Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position

The Digital Demand Generation and Sales Development Intern will be immersed in a hands-on experience, giving them the opportunity to learn how Commercial and Marketing teams function. Alongside the Digital Team (and working closely with Marketing Operations, Sales Development, and Regional Marketing), they will learn the tools, systems, and processes needed to execute, measure, and optimize the data and performance of an omni-channel digital campaign from our yearly content strategy plan. They will also work closely with the Sales Development Team to learn the process for qualifying and converting marketing-generated leads into sales meetings and will be assigned a marketing campaign where they will follow-up with marketing qualified leads and try to convert them into a meeting with a field salesperson.

Key Responsibilities

  • Social Media, Digital Advertising/SEM, and E-mail Marketing: Collaborate with regional marketing and digital marketing teams to develop and deploy digital advertising campaigns targeting customers with the intent of generating demand for our offerings. Perform keyword research, strategic content development, and help manage search ads to capture traffic.

  • Content Marketing: Develop and execute content marketing plans to drive key campaign themes and result in increased engagement and conversion.

  • Reporting/Analytics: Review current data and analytics, research industry best practices, and make recommendations on how to make improvements to our digital buying journey. Gather and present campaign results to digital and regional marketing teams.

  • Sales Development: For a target campaign, follow a prescribed number of phone, email, social, and voicemail touch points to generate meetings for sales.

  • Special Projects: Will be asked to contribute to and support additional strategic marketing initiatives as they emerge. Participate in activities/events which will help build a strong network within Corning and gain knowledge of the Telecommunications Industry.

  • Present an end of summer presentation to the Marketing Leadership Team and the extended Marketing Organization to review projects executed.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will be an independent self-starter who wants to learn about the development and execution of marketing campaigns from start to finish, as well as the sales development process.

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field.

  • Meticulous attention to detail.

  • Strong verbal/written skills and excellent interpersonal and phone skills to communicate effectively with external and internal customers.

  • Proficiency with MS Office Tools.

  • Experience with digital platforms (such as: SEO/SEM, Google Analytics, Social Media Management, Marketing Automation, and Content Management) is a plus.

  • Proven analytical, organizational, and process skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Flexibility facing new opportunities, processes, and technologies.

  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2025 (May-August 2025) with a graduation date of December 2025 or later

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
