Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position:

As the PLM Flexible Ribbon for cables, this person is responsible for product definition, product positioning and strategy, competitive analysis, forecasting, capacity management, and managing demand from various internal teams. They lead collaborative engagement with Optical Fiber & Cable (OFC) and Optical Connectivity Solutions (OCS) PLMs, technology, manufacturing, and commercial organizations to define the global long-range product strategy and interact regularly with Optical Fiber & Cable’s leadership team to discuss and align on objectives and solicit support as needed from all functions.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Develop market insight through strategic assessments of the Market, Customer, Competitors, and Optical Fiber and Cable Capabilities

• Creates effective Product Line vision, strategy, critical projects, roadmaps, and plans (1 and 5 year)

• Work with technology and manufacturing leaders to prioritize product development and manufacturing priorities to align with overall product line strategy

• Understand competitive environment and devise plans to differentiate as needed

• Interpret market demand and provide forecast for capacity planning

• Be the Champion for new product introductions and provide technical support for the development of product literature and promotional brochures

• Work with the Commercial organization to devise value propositions to profitably position our products against the competition

• Develop strategy to define and manage introduction of new outside plant cable products

Required Qualifications:

• BS in a technical area; or non-technical degree plus high level of technical curiosity

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in product line management, marketing, manufacturing, or engineering in a technical, fast paced and customer-focused environment

• Demonstrated track record of managing projects.

• Demonstrated track record of leading multi-functional teams.

• Possess strong business and analytical skills including the understanding of financial statements and the use of spreadsheet software

• Possess strong work ethic and attention to detail with excellent organizational skills

• Work efficiently on multiple projects and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines

• Adapt quickly to changing requirements

Desired Qualifications:

• MBA

• Experience in product introduction, analysis, and development of product strategies

• Experience with forecasting and forecasting systems

• Creation and maintenance of customer-related literature

The range for this position is $121,205.00 - $166,657.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
