Directs and produces advanced analytic work for recommendations to support the Consumer Payments Product portfolio with a focus on credit card, risk, and optimization analytics. Drive balanced strategy monetization and optimization efforts related to quality, profitability, engagement and growth across all business segments, products, and channels.

• Provide strategic direction and thought leadership for Consumer Payments Analytics, including but not limited to:

o Risk analytics: portfolio health, optimization, and credit risk strategies related to credit decision processes

o Credit line adjustments: ability to analyze factors influencing credit line adjustments and predict optimal credit limits for customers

o Decision modeling: experience in developing and optimizing decision models for credit card

o Product profitability: understanding of key profitability metrics and ability to create product-level P&Ls

o Customer segmentation: proficiency in segmentation techniques to identify spending behaviors, credit utilization, revenue / profit concentration, and demographic clusters

o Funnel analytics: tracking performance across all touchpoints, from initial interest to conversion

• Develop and manage key Portfolio Management strategies to grow exposure profitably including (but not limited) balance build programs, retention & exposure management

• Optimize card and digital payment product strategies to increase engagement

• Optimize card portfolio yield by designing credit limit management, balance & spend increase strategies

• Leverage knowledge of consumer-lending best practices, including the use of advanced statistical techniques and data sources that optimize the risk reward balance, improve client experience, and drive operational efficiencies

• Identify strategic opportunities, synthesize data to craft compelling stories and present recommendations to senior management for decision making

• Perform advanced analytics methods to extract value from business data

• Perform large-scale experimentation and build data-driven models to answer business questions

• Influence product teams through presentation of data-based recommendations

• Evangelize best practices to analytics and products teams

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Serve as a thought leader who understands both business functions/operations and technology/data capabilities and has the ability to translate across both in order to expand the use of data driven insights to inform strategic direction while also expanding the questions that data is used to answer.

  2. Lead a team of highly skilled senior-level analytics professionals including Decision Science Managers with a focus on a distinctive competency as internal consultants leveraging business acumen, operational understanding and analytics capabilities to optimize business performance and enhance client experiences.

  3. Perform full people management responsibilities including talent acquisition, coaching, and organization of analytics professionals possessing highly technical skills, an understanding of business processes, natural curiosity, and a drive to excellence in pursuit of business optimization and impact.

  4. Drive integration of team culture (who we are), connection between analysis and strategic focus (how we win), and consistency in deliverables (what good looks like). Champion the use of tools to solve business challenges and deliver solutions that are timely, accurate, and repeatable.

  5. Partner with Senior and Executive business leaders across supported business unit, as well as other Executive Lines of Business, to align business strategy with analytics capabilities, delivering insights that drive incremental business value.

  6. Develop short and long-term objectives for translating business strategies and emerging external trends to organizational and operational tactics and priorities to execute against Truist line of business objectives.

  7. Stay abreast of latest technology, analytical concepts, and trends in the market and identify implementation or consultative opportunities for advancements into new and/or existing processes.

  8. Foster communication and partnership across all levels of the organization including engagement with Senior Leadership and C-Suite, Truist Executive Leadership Team. Responsible for stewarding relationships, delivering on promises, and building trust with partners while delivering on LOB and company goals.

  9. Pursue business outcomes valued through increased revenue and/or efficiency leveraging data-driven insights powered by analytics in support of enhanced decision-making. Focus on continuous improvement in decision science delivery, leveraging quantitative analysis techniques, including machine learning, in pursuit of business optimization and impact.

  10. Represent assigned business group in various forums, work streams, and Executive reviews. Cultivate relationships with leadership of the Enterprise Data Office and federated analytics teams to drive efficient decision science delivery against shared objectives.

  11. Exercise sound judgment, risk management, and foster a client centric culture throughout design, development, and deployment practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  1. The incumbent must demonstrate a combination of academic aptitude, quantitative skills, business acumen, working knowledge of transaction processing application software, application processing systems, and collection inventory systems, strategic and creative thinking, and excellent written and verbal communications skills

  2. Bachelor’s degree and 15 years of progressive experience, or equivalent education and related training in Banking, Finance, Decision/Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Engineering

  3. Broad and in-depth expertise of data and analytics as a professional discipline, 10 years of analytics leadership experience with a diverse project focus and demonstrated results

  4. Ability to lead and manage performance of large scale teams against financial and operational objectives

  5. Must be a people leader, able to manage Decision Science Managers and individual contributors in a cross-functional and collaborative team environment including teammate coaching, mentoring and career development

  6. Robust understanding of key business processes and strategies

  7. Demonstrated ability to engage and manage a diverse set of internal business partners, product sets, and projects, translating business strategies and emerging external trends to organizational and operational tactics and connecting insights with execution and business impact

  8. Ability to influence and negotiate with other Senior Leaders in light of their unique perspectives and competing priorities

  9. Innovative and strategic thinker with a strong bias to action and focus on quantifiable business impact; Ability to lead significant cross-functional initiatives including deployment of advanced analytics (AI/ML) capabilities

  10. Experience in managing multiple teams/projects with tight deadlines in a collaborative environment; Ability to pivot and align resources to drive maximum impact

  11. Understanding of various database environments (IBM DB2, Oracle), technical programming skills (SAS, SQL, Toad), exposure to applied data science tools (R, Python, SAS E-Miner), familiarity with data visualization and BI tools (Tableau, MicroStrategy), working knowledge of analytical toolsets (Adobe Marketing Stack) and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  12. Knowledge of the external environment including Truist’s competition, regulatory requirements and trend, and the strategies employed to continually meet the demands of internal and external stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree

  2. Previous experience in the banking industry

  3. 15+ years large bank experience in card analytics, portfolio segmentation, behavior modeling, and or risk strategy.

  4. Outstanding communication and presentation skills; ability to distill and translate complex data and strategies to diverse stakeholders in clear, crisp terms
