As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of asset activities, supporting month-end reporting, and managing IFRS 16 lease accounting. Job Summary:
Essential Job Functions:
Review for accuracy and completeness and approve asset activity created by Staff Accountants
Perform month end Capital Asset Department reporting to support Sector Leadership and Senior Management
Ensure compliance with policies and procedures
Support for Asset Systems; testing and upgrades
Manage IFRS 16 (Lease Accounting)
Support M&A accounting related to department activities
Provide analysis and present findings to Manager (i.e., Salvage value)
Ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Address escalation issues in a timely manner
Perform accounting functions from assigned checklist and meet deliverables consistently with quality output
Ensure direct reports meet their deliverables as assigned in a consistent manner with quality output
Provide business operations support to off ledgers
Perform and support exception reconciliation for lease payment clearing process
Perform ad hoc reporting with the ability to produce high level Sector reporting as requested
Support direct reports through weekly touch base meetings
Develop and provide reviews to direct reports and communicate their strengths and areas of improvement
Communicate professionally, timely and efficiently to customer requests
Escalate issues to Senior Manager in a timely manner
Assist management with projects related to process improvements
Advise and guide on any departmental needs
Perform ad hoc requests from your manager
Internal Customers:
Asset Department
All Compass Corporate Departments
Operations/Regional Offices
Foodbuy (Purchasing & Fleet)
Treasury - Cash Management and Accounts Payable
Supervisory Expectations: 2-4 Accountants
Qualifications:
SAP & Hyperion/Essbase experience
Microsoft Power Platform / process automation experience
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Detail and results orientated with a positive attitude
Work independently but acts as part of a team
Understands or ability to understand IFRS16 requirements
Ability and willingness to research
Requirements:
Bachelors in accounting with 5+ years of accounting experience
CPA or MBA (with concentration in accounting) is a plus
Asset Accounting experience
Experience reading contracts, particularly complex ones
