Job Title: Lower School Substitute Teaching Faculty []{#_gjdgxs}Start Date: August 2024 Salary: $45,000 Reports directly to: Director of the Early Learning Center and Lower School Department: Lower School Antilles School is seeking dynamic and talented substitute teachers to join a committed team of educators in a collaborative environment that places a high value on educating the whole child. Ideal candidates are passionate and self-motivated professionals, prepared to teach and nurture young children and support a wide range of learning styles, abilities, and ages. An understanding of and a commitment to, a culturally and ethnically diverse population is essential. Responsibilities include maintaining a child-friendly classroom and age-appropriate routines to teach the core subjects of Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar, Math, Science, and Social Studies using provided lesson plans. Character development and the social emotional development of each child are as equally important as their academic development. Collaboration with peers and a positive work ethic are expected. Substitute teachers also need to be willing to help out as needed in other areas and classrooms. Qualifications include: - Bachelors degree or higher, preferred - Previous successful classroom experience, preferred - Demonstrated command of child development and current best practices in elementary education - Ability to partner and communicate effectively with faculty - Collaborative professional nature - Understanding of pedagogy and fostering intellectual growth - Excellent communication skills - Cultural competence - Positive, detailed-oriented team player with the ability to be self-directed {=html} - Technological literacy School description: Antilles School is an independent coeducational day school located on St. Thomas, in the US Virgin Islands.
