SMX is seeking a Senior Compensation Specialist to be responsible for managing the compensation function across SMX. The Senior Compensation Specialist plans, develops and implements new and revised compensation programs, policies and procedures to align with company goals and competitive practices. This position is also responsible for ensuring company compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with internal policies and government regulations. Ideal candidate has a high-level understanding of the McNamara-O’Hara Service Contract Act (SCA) requirements and global compensation practices.
Responsibilities
Manages the development, implementation and administration of compensation programs
Designs creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs and incentive plans
Develops a consistent compensation philosophy across the company
Leads the job architecture and compensation framework project in partnership with external compensation consultants
Prepares and maintains job descriptions for each position within the company and ensures descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents
Maintains the Compensation module in ADP
Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommends changes that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and Company objectives
Provides advice on pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations
Oversees the participation in salary surveys and monitors salary survey data to ensure company compensation objectives are achieved
Assesses jobs and their respective duties to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary range
Partners with Talent Acquisition to benchmark jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position
Ensures compliance with and advises management on federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations
Other responsibilities as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, human resources or related field
Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in employee compensation
Knowledge of laws and regulations as they apply to base compensation and incentive compensation programs, company policies, and operations
Experience creating and/or implementing compensation strategies across multiple companies
Professional Certified Compensation (CCP), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certifications preferred
Proficiency with ADP Compensation and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
Knowledge of all federal, state and local regulations and compliance requirements related to employee compensation
Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data
Excellent time management skills and ability to plan and set priorities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with senior management
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time (reasonable accommodation will be provided if needed)
