Action Facilities Management, Incorporated Security Guard Part Time in Charleston, West Virginia

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the safety and security of the building and visitors to the building. The security guard patrols the building, investigates and writes incident reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activity, safety hazards, and other security related situations; and assists members of the pubic and individuals working in the building.

Pay Rate: $17.00 per hour

Shift: Thursday and Friday, 12:45pm-8:00pm and Saturday, 8:30am-5:30pm. Covers other shifts as needed.

Essential Job Functions:

Performs security patrols (on-foot) of the building both inside and exterior Frequent intraction with the public, including homeless persons Make sound decisions quickly and gain compliance from individuals Coordinate with local law enforcement and relay critical information during stressful situations Control and monitor access to the building Protect property from theft, embezzlement, sabotage, fire, and accidents Investigates and writes incident reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activity, safety hazards, and other security related situations Provides any assistance needed to customers, employees, and visitors following department procedures Interact with members of the public and may escort visitors to the site Must be able to respond to, and assist in, emergency situations including evacuating the building, and more Other duties as assigned Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

High School diploma or equivalent 3-5 years previous experience in security or a related field such as military or law enforcement Good working knowledge of security operations, safety practices in a business environment, and enforcement procedures Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently Must be be able to communicate verbally, and in written form, with a variety of stakeholders and personnel Ability to maintain composure under stress while communicating critical information in a clear and concise manner Ability to make decisions while under stress, which are consistent with standard operating procedures and client expectations Ability to work independently or as a member of a team Ethical conduct Client/ customer focused Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl; and talk; or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception. Employee must be physically capable of assisting during an emergency situation.

Working Environment: Work takes place in a commercial facility with indoor/ outdoor exposure. May be exposed to various temperatures and weather phenomenoms when doing external patrols.
