Description We are seeking a Sr. Accountant to join our team in the non-profit industry, located in Charleston, South Carolina. This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity. Your role as a Sr. Accountant will include a variety of responsibilities such as reconciling accounts, maintaining the general ledger, processing journal entries, and handling both accounts payable and accounts receivable duties.

Responsibilities:

• Perform account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.

• Handle balance sheet reconciliation to maintain accuracy and consistency in financial data.

• Conduct bank reconciliations regularly to ensure accuracy.

• Maintain and manage the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and up-to-date.

• Process journal entries and ensure all business transactions are recorded.

• Utilize Microsoft Excel to track and analyze financial data.

• Oversee the month-end closing process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

• Handle accounts payable duties, ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and paid.

• Oversee accounts receivable duties, ensuring all invoices are issued to customers and payments collected.

• Utilize Financial Edge software to streamline accounting tasks and procedures. Requirements • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

• Proven experience as a senior accountant in a non-profit setting.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Thorough knowledge of basic and advanced accounting procedures.

• Demonstrated abilities in account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation.

• Experience with bank reconciliations.

• Familiarity with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.

• Hands-on experience with accounting software, ideally Financial Edge.

• Expertise in preparing and managing journal entries.

• In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

• Proven experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable.

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.

• Commitment to working within the ethos and values of the non-profit sector.
