About the Role

HomeSafe Alliance is seeking highly skilled and motivated household goods move coordinators to assist USDOD personnel relocating to/from the 48 contiguous United States and Alaskan locations working closely with HomeSafe’s partners to deliver an excellent customer experience globally

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Foster a team-oriented work environment & maintain positive relationships with suppliers including inland haulage carriers, Alaskan partners, port agents, lower 48 US based partners, Alaskan traffic lane shipping companies (sea and road), and other providers as required for shipping of household goods to and from Alaska

  • Review and coordinate daily operations requirements consisting of the following critical tasks

  • Coordinate pre-move processes including analysis of weight/volume estimations, move plans, and other shipment logistics requirements

  • Coordinate origin or destination services in CONUS and Alaska

  • Monitor and manage all origin service requirements enforcing standards that may result in changes to shipment volumes to secure the minimum required density whenever possible

  • Review Alaskan shipments for optimization considering loose FCL options, highway transportation options, or traditional lift van movement to maximize container volume capacity and minimize transport costs per shipment

  • Arrange inland haulage for loaded lift vans, crates, and/or full containers to/from US partner locations and the port of Tacoma and designated inland terminals

  • Update and monitor systems with accurate transit information for the movement of all shipments from point to point in the door-to-door process

  • Ensure all shipments are routed and forwarded according to the required standards in the GHC PWS (appendix C) to meet the required delivery date (RDD) for the shipment

  • Maintains contact with on-site supervisors when required to ensure an efficient and effective service experience for the client.

  • Manage the accessorial process and document in the system all requests for accessorial services ensuring that they conform to GHC PWS descriptions and provide written authorization to the partner performing the services ensuring proper compensation

  • Maintain accurate and up to date records in the system ensuring all shipment related data is available for reporting according to standard schedules

  • Ensure that all necessary documents are recorded and uploaded in the system for all service component costs such that a running total of actual costs for each shipment is maintained including:

  • Origin packing services

  • Origin accessorial services

  • Inland haulage from origin warehouse to port of embarkation

  • Port charges at embarkation port

  • Ocean freight charges from port of embarkation to port of debarkation

  • Inland haulage from port of debarkation to destination warehouse

  • Port charges at debarkation port

  • Destination unpacking services

  • Destination accessorial services

  • Establishes and/or monitors proposed move plan for each shipment based on estimated timelines coordinated with scheduled timelines, and confirming actual timelines and promptly update the system with accurate data for the shipment’s progress

  • Works directly with the Alaska managers and legal department to ensure compliance and adherence to applicable FMC regulations

  • Provide, when necessary, any service performance, or administrative issues, problems, or notable challenges to the Alaska Operations Manager for onforwarding to the HomeSafe Safety & Compliance team

  • Collaborates with the Alaska Operations Manager to monitor the proficiency of origin, destination and transportation providers and recommends process improvements and training solutions to enhance the service to the client.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen due to contractual requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree or equivalent experience in lieu of education

  • Minimum 2 years directly related experience in General Freight Forwarding, preferred HHG Moving.

  • Ability to read, interpret documents and execute actions intended to service household goods shipments moving door-to-door globally

  • Ability to communicate with suppliers at the transactional level and provide clear and concise instructions for service performance

  • Experience in the household goods or similar commodity forwarding industry

Note : This position is fully remote / work from home. HomeSafe will supply appropriate equipment, employee provided high speed internet is required.
