Description We are seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to join our team in the healthcare industry based in Charleston, South Carolina. The role is critical in ensuring accurate processing and tracking of medical billing, with a focus on insurance claims, account receivables, claim denials, and medical coding. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately prepare and submit billing data and medical claims to insurance companies

• Conduct diligent verification of insurance information

• Perform comprehensive analysis of accounts receivable and conduct necessary follow-ups

• Efficiently file appeals and work on denied claims

• Contribute to financial services duties as needed

• Collaborate with the billing staff and other departments to communicate authorization updates, denials, and/or delays

• Monitor and resolve denials, including identifying the root cause, resolving the issue, re-submitting claims, ensuring claim acceptance, and tracking payment receipts

• Post charges and payments to appropriate accounts

• Adapt to changing priorities and meet assigned deadlines

• Maintain a clinical appeal process for all inpatient denials ensuring that proper documentation is provided to support appeals of unauthorized inpatient days or days denied due to lack of documentation Requirements • Proficiency in Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Familiarity with Appeals and Claim Administration

• Experience with Benefit and Billing Functions

• Knowledge of Medical Billing, Claim Denials, Insurance Denials, and Medical Denials

• Expertise in Medical Coding, including ICD Codes and ICD-10

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to maintain confidentiality

• Proficiency with computer software and medical billing systems

• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment

• Relevant qualifications in medical billing or a related field

• Flexibility to adapt to changes in procedures or processes

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
