MITRE’s N13 Space Department integrates technology and domain expertise to deliver solutions across organizations that develop, deploy, and operate spaceborne capabilities. We help ensure overhead users get the right data at the right place and time to deliver the mission. We are seeking a Software Security Architect with experience in the Intelligence Community (IC) and an active Top Secret clearance, along with current or past SCI, to provide thought leadership and problem solving expertise to our sponsor and their national security mission.
The ideal candidate will bring a consistent track record of success in delivery of high-impact technical solutions, the integration and application of knowledge and skills in enterprise transformation and related disciplines, proven ability to provide technical and/or project team leadership within challenging customer environments, and passion for contributing to growing technical capabilities in enterprise architecture, innovation, analytics and optimization. The successful candidate will be expected to continue to develop and expand their individual expertise, to lead and/or contribute to fast-paced projects as a member of high-performing multi-disciplinary teams, to provide subject matter expertise, technical mentoring and coaching for less experienced staff, and to lead/contribute to the development, evolution, and application of emerging technical capabilities. As an individual contributor and technical advisor, you will provide senior leaders with advice and an understanding of techniques and effective approaches to enterprise level security and design, governance, and supporting technologies.
Assist in analysis, transition, and improvement at multiple levels of enterprise security architecture design and execution, identifying core competencies, defining measures, and identifying capabilities
Help government leaders to translate their mission, vision, goals, and strategies into actionable programs within a coherent concept of operations
Analyze the current state and partner with government staff and working groups to develop an enterprise security architecture plan and roadmap that supports a “target state” of technologies or desired capabilities
Assist in assessing and aligning services and technology with mission strategies and objectives, concepts of operation, business processes, roles, organizational structures and technology standards
Facilitate changes to policy and integration challenges, adapting legacy systems to new technology, identifying, and accelerating the adoption of innovations, and creating reference architectures which can be leveraged across a sponsor’s business
Provide support in planning, evaluating, and overseeing Custom/Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) solution implementations
Develop trusted strategic partnerships with key sponsors and stakeholders
Define security requirements and work with engineering team from concept through implementation of secure solutions for server systems
Participate in hardware and software system design reviews and build security roadmap that makes the servers secure both for the users and administrators
Work with the sponsor to identify security challenges and craft a sound security solution which can serve long-term and short-term mission goals
Work closely with the sponsor to understand use cases and identify security needs proactively. Keep up to date on security risks and develop solutions without impacting sponsor experience
Research, envision and define security solutions which meet internal and external requirements, including following industry standards
Continuously review and identify improvement opportunities in established processes, infrastructure, and practices to ensure platforms are robust against current and future security threats
Provide direction and advice on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security practices that may have an impact on the security posture of the applicable environment
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, or software security related field; or, equivalent experience along with an Enterprise Software Security certification
8 years of relevant experience
Active TS//SCI with CI poly
Ability to work on-site in secure Government and/or MITRE facilities
Demonstrated knowledge and application of several of the following:
Deep understanding of secure architecture and design fundamentals
Threat modeling and other risk assessment skills
Sound knowledge of operating system architecture and security fundamentals
Experience with Secure Software Development Life Cycle frameworks
Experience in defining and guiding the implementation of reference architectures and technology standards
Excellent written and oral communications skills including presentation and facilitation; ability to succinctly provide technical fact-based recommendations and products tailored to the sponsor mission and senior leader priorities and operating environments
Experience in creating schedules, deliverables, and executing on projects according to demanding time frame requirements; ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Advanced degree in technical field of study with 8 or more years of relevant experience
Certifications and/or hands-on experience in cloud computing, enterprise data services architectures, container management, software lifecycle management, and cloud security services
