ManTech Principal Linux Systems Administrator in Chantilly, Virginia

Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, mission-oriented Linux Systems Administrator, in the Chantilly, VA area, with strong Customer relationships.

The Principal Linux Systems Administrator is responsible for providing a full range of IT support services & expertise to customer activities focusing on Linux administration & management, client & server environment services & virtual environment services. This position is also looking to implement & take advantage of JIRA with Confluence experience. Primarily, you will demonstrate a proficient knowledge & understanding of client & server operations & maintenance with UNIX/Linux, virtual environments, backup, storage & recovery, & development of customer requirements. Secondly, as a JIRA administrator you will provide configuration & administrative support to a virtual based Atlassian tool suite including JIRA, Confluence, & other 3rd party add-ons. Next, you will assist & gain experience with ServiceNow running on Linux integrated into a Windows domain. Lastly, you will provide administration of Linux systems integration into Windows Security Domains using LDAP for centralized user accounts & security group access.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Experience administering & managing Linux, OS & software, in physical & virtual server environments (including RedHat & CentOS)

  • Perform as a Principal Linux Systems Administrator (Tier 3) supporting multiple networks (including network services)

  • Provide Tier 3 engineering problem identification & resolution

  • Installation, configuration, hardening, & maintenance of Linux operating systems & servers

  • Analyze & resolve hardware & software problems associated with Linux operating systems & applications.

  • Monitor network & Linux system performance; advise on compliance with security standards to include Linux IAVAs, vulnerabilities, updates, & remediation

  • Experience with shell scripting languages, such as Linux Bash

  • Experience with Database Administration

  • Familiarity with Java Virtual Machine (JVM) tuning

  • Plan, schedule, implement, & communicate JIRA & plug-in upgrades in accordance with requirements, & established policies & procedures

  • Architect, administer, and troubleshoot JIRA deployments & projects; focus on providing platform for Housing units to administer, track & report on department-wide projects & issues

  • Work independently with stakeholders & clients to design & deliver JIRA workflows to meet the stated & unstated business requirements

  • Analyze current JIRA configurations & migrate to new instances; code, test, & debug new software/applications or make new enhancements to existing software/ applications & provide solutions using JIRA

  • Ability to create complex JIRA workflows, screen, permission, & notification schemes, & to provide/configure JIRA for manual processes

  • Understanding of JIRA APIs & webhooks

  • Gather requirements for business processes, & determine ways to optimize/improve JIRA/Confluence/Bitbucket; build & configure

  • Implement custom XML based JIRA gadgets

  • Generate documentation on workflows & processes implemented in JIRA to support runbooks

  • Working knowledge with ITIL Operations Management & Service Management

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 7 or more years’ experience, or high school diploma/GED and 10 or more years of relevant systems admin experience

  • At least 1 year of experience with Jira

  • Security+ certification (active)

  • Occasional travel, 25% CONUS

Security Clearance Requirements:

Must possess an active TS/SCI with Polygraph

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time

  • Must be able to communicate, converse, & exchange information with peers & senior personnel

  • Constantly operates a computer & other office productivity machinery, such as a computer

  • Constantly positions self to maintain computers in the lab, including under the desks & in the server closet

  • Frequently moves Audio/Visual or Computer equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across & around a business campus or large facility
