What You ll Do:

  • Support a BAE Systems, Inc. program monitoring and assisting the Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) of a spacecraft in a multiple unit delivery environment.

  • Provide technical oversight and support to technicians and engineers.

  • Responsible to review and provide approval prior to and post all Assembly and Test operations.

  • Author test plans and write, review, update, and implement test procedures/test scripts for the purpose of prototype, qualification, and acceptance testing.

  • Conduct functional and environmental testing on spacecraft or instruments and related electronic, electro-mechanical, or electro-optic components and systems.

  • Generate, interpret, implement, and monitor test requirements from system, detail design, and contract specifications.

  • Maintain required test engineering logs, records, and author test summary reports.

  • During space vehicle Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) operations other BAE Systems, Inc. personnel will be at the facility this position provides a local presence to organize and coordinate with multiple teams assisting the vendor.

  • The vendor is responsible for Assembly Integration & Test operations. This position is a part of the Prime team and will oversee the vendor team without having direct authority over their personnel.

  • Lead the design, development, build, and certification of automated electrical ground support equipment.

  • Mission understanding: ability to quickly come up to speed on hardware and software, architecture and planned testing requirements and schedule(s).

  • Face-to-face interaction with customers and contractors, able to respond to requests, support to technical meetings, technical interchanges and enterprise working groups involving program testing.

  • Coordination and leading multiple travel teams on numerous AI&T activities.

  • Communicate and work with other BAE Systems, Inc. team members, local vendor team members, off-site and local management, and customers.

  • Provide technical and cost guidance to new business pursuits and proposals.

  • Position will require support during off hours and weekends.

  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.

  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.

  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 5 or more years related experience.

  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

  • A current active TS/SCI security clearance is required.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in Assembly, Integration and Test (AI&T).

  • Solid System Engineering skills.

  • Ability to quickly come up to speed on technical efforts currently underway.

  • Ability to status management at multiple levels.

  • Hands-on experience in the testing of spacecraft (C&DH, ADCS, power, telcomm) and electro-mechanical components and systems (Optics, mechanisms, image collection).

  • Experience in procedure development for Ground Support Equipment (GSE) supporting flight hardware Test.

  • Good planning and organization skills.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Test Experience:

  • Translating/reviewing requirement test cases.

  • Writing/Updating/Reviewing test processes, plans, and cases.

  • Working with product owners and subject matter experts as needed.

  • Assessing and addressing resources necessary for test.

  • Communicating with management, other program personnel and the customer on testing status.

  • Approving pre and post operational procedures and data.

  • Technical skills:

  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical testing.

  • Optical test experience.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Knowledge of test tools (e.g. Maestro (STOL), COSMOS(RUBY), Excel).

  • Experience with anomaly resolution in a space flight hardware environment.

  • Experience in environmental test.

  • Experience with software tracking systems (e.g. Jira, SubVersion).

  • RF experience.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $127500 - $158000

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
