Battelle is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer III . This position can be located in our Chantilly, VA or Columbus, OH l ocations.
As a Embedded Engineer at Battelle you will leverage your expertise to contribute to R&D projects, contribute to changing strategy for project execution and design, & code and test software. Our projects are non-standard, highly customized, and will push you to new levels as a software developer. Most of our software is developed in C/C++ and runs on embedded systems. (CSD)
C/C++ development that supports critical customer missions
Applying concepts from newer compiled languages such as Go, or Rust to embedded development
Developing for real time operating systems (RTOS) and interesting embedded systems
Applying understanding of software development to the analysis of compiled custom operating systems by learning reverse engineering principles
Implementing kernel/OS customizations to support experimental hardware build environments such as FPGA development kits
Participate in conferences, peer review panels and increase company visibility through publications
Collaborate on IR&D tasks
THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED
Ability and willingness to obtain DoD Security Clearance
BS and (6) years of relevant experience; MS and (4) years of relevant experience; PhD and (1) year of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education/experience in a relevant field
Strong understanding of embedded software development in C/C++ Familiarity with embedded platform prototyping (such as via FPGAs, etc.)
Experience or desire to code in Go or Rust
Excellent communication skills both oral and written
Ability to work individually and in small fast paced team environments
Passion and drive to constantly need to improve your skill set
