Red River Director, FP&A in Chantilly, Virginia

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will be extremely detailed oriented, possess excellent leadership traits, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and be highly organized. The Director of FP&A directs the day-to-day operations related to corporate and business unit financial planning to produce timely, accurate and actionable analysis. This person will be a key partner for the CFO and other senior executives.

Primary Position Tasks:

Corporate & Business Unit FP&A

  • Provide leadership over the production and presentation of weekly, monthly and quarterly financial reporting, including, but not limited, to P&L results versus forecast and budget, working capital and liquidity forecasting, and orders pipeline.

  • Develop and present actionable intelligence and recommendations to business stakeholders based on deep analysis of financial results

  • Partner with segment executives and their staff to support business-unit level reporting and forecasting

  • Operate in an environment of continuous improvement to implement new processes that increase the accuracy and efficiency for forecasting and reporting

  • Own and update the company’s long-term financial model and outlook.

  • Support the accounting month-end close process to include applicable analysis.

  • Identify and develop adhoc analyses related to new business initiatives, product launches, and service offerings.

  • Define and implement monitoring process for new KPIs, including recommendations for improvements.

  • Develop and maintain the monthly operating budget and annual company operating budget to include forecasting.

  • Support the identification and implementation of new tools and technologies within the Finance group

  • Financial analysis and business cases to include recommendations.

  • Participate in periodic calls with Executive Leadership Team, PE-firm, and other constituents as required.

  • Provides guidance to others in the organization to include mentoring to include periodic training to finance and non-financial staff.

  • Provide Leadership and training to all functions.

Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting and 10 plus years of applicable work experience.

  • Demonstrate a complete understanding of FP&A, concepts and principles, as well as a thorough knowledge of industry practices for reporting, planning, forecasting and analysis

  • Advanced Excel skills, with deep experience on three-statement financial modeling

  • High energy, dynamic professional with a strong executive presence.

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a challenging fast-paced environment.

  • An effective presenter who can clearly and concisely explain accounting items & financial results. Track record of leading, mentoring and developing an experienced team and building a succession plan.

  • Maturity, professionalism, and high level of discretion is required.

  • Strong presence with the ability to interact with Senior Leadership.

  • Experience leading teams as a player-coach, executing multiple projects and juggling competing priorities.

  • Maturity and perspective which add value beyond the finance function; ability to assume broader responsibilities, to help set strategic direction to establish operating priorities.

  • Must be able to handle sensitive materials and maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Must have high-level interpersonal skills and able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.

  • Self-directed and highly-motivated, with the decisiveness and flexibility necessary to operate successfully in a changing, rapid-growth, hands-on environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment and recognize the importance of relationship building and professionalism in interacting with both senior management and staff employees.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Education/Certification/Experience:

  • MBA in Finance, CFA or CPA is preferred but not required

  • Exposure to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).

  • Experience in mergers and acquisitions and successful integrations and ERP implementations.

  • Leadership roles in working with Private Equity backed organizations.

Essential Elements (Mental; Physical; Equipment used):

This position is an office position that requires sitting at a desk for multiple hours throughout the work day.
