Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented VMware Virtualization Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. In this role you will focus on designing, implementing, and supporting virtual infrastructure to ensure our systems' high availability, performance, and scalability.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Design, deploy, and manage VMware virtualization infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and associated components.

  • Monitor and maintain the virtual environment's health, performance, and capacity to ensure optimal operation and availability.

  • Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions for virtualized environments.

  • Develop and document standard operating procedures, configurations, and best practices for VMware environments.

  • Perform regular system maintenance, patches, and updates to ensure the security and stability of the virtual infrastructure.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve virtual machines, host servers, storage, and networking issues.

  • Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate virtualization solutions with other technologies and systems.

  • Monitor event alerts and customer request queue, own and resolve.

  • Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and end-users.

  • Participate in capacity planning and performance tuning of the virtualization environment.

  • Participate in on-call pager rotation.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry security and data protection standards.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in VMware virtualization technologies.

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or higher certification is strongly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere 7/8, ESXi, vCenter, and related technologies.

  • Experience with storage systems, networking, and server hardware in a virtualized environment.

  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices such as Agile, repositories, collaboration, Vagrant, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Proficient in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, or other relevant languages.

  • Experience with event alerting software such as LogicMonitor.

  • Experience with Nutanix or other Hyperconverged systems.

  • Experience with network monitoring software such Aria Network Insight.

  • Familiarity with backup and recovery solutions for VMware environments.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, VMC.

  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Chef, or Puppet.

  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution.

  • Experience with Scaled Agile / Lean-Agile methodologies.

Salary Range:

$104,200.00 - $182,400.00
