Job Overview
We are hiring a Staff Material Engineer to our growing team!
Provide engineering support to manufacturing, product design, R&D and other engineering groups to optimize products and manufacturing methods for cost and operational efficiency. Utilize various engineering tools including simulations (FEA, mold filling), material science, and Statistics.
Location: This hybrid role is based at one of Hubbell's key locations with a preference for Oklahoma City, OK. Other possible locations include Centralia, MO, St. Louis, MO, Akron, OH, and Atlanta, GA

A Day In The Life
Conduct hands-on lab scale trials to support the formulation and development of new materials (plastics, rubber, adhesives).
Setup and conduct experiments, perform relevant application and analytical testing in the laboratory, following set procedures.
Validate simulation methods through physical testing of products at Hubbell test laboratories.
Assist Engineering groups on various initiatives including new materials, new manufacturing processes, and new products.
Provide other Engineering services for HUS including monthly reporting, and training of new users. Provide guidance to new and less experienced Engineers.
General working knowledge of applications, processing methods, formulations and additives for engineering polymers, rubber, composites and adhesives.
Experience with simulation techniques such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Mold Filling simulations.
Transfer knowledge to project teams and R&D community via presentations, technical reviews and day-to-day interaction.
Work closely with project team members and key partners of other departments, including marketing, quality, process engineering, operations and supply chain to ensure favorable R&D project outcomes and product launches.
What will help you thrive in this role?
Minimum Bachelor degree in an Engineering discipline required.
Minimum 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a Bachelor degree, or 7 years with a Master degree.
Previous experience in Material Engineering, finite element analysis, product testing, quality control, or process engineering roles.
Ability to manage multiple technical projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment, managing changing priorities.
Must be able to effectively communicate complex topics often using teleconferencing tools, presentations and speaking in front of groups.
Experience in commercial product development within the adhesives or coating industry.
Acquire and maintain relevant technical expertise in material science, polymer characterization and rubber.
Proven knowledge of analytical techniques and materials characterization methods
Ability to travel up to 70% of the time, domestically and internationally.
Master’s degree or greater in engineering preferred, but individuals with significant relevant experience and knowledge base with simulation and material knowledge will be considered.
