About the Role
Program Overview
Wellington Management is seeking early career individuals to be part of the InvesTech Associate Program in the Investment Services & Technology Department (InvesTech). As an InvesTech Associate, you will develop the foundation to become successful in a career in financial operations and technology.
This is a program that offers tons of flexibility for the successful candidates to explore their diversified interests in the financial services industry and develop a differentiated skillset that is highly relevant to how the investment management industry is evolving.
The InvesTech Associates will be part of a regional cohort and will receive training and skill building opportunities to develop expertise in the processes and technology that drive asset management, portfolio analysis, funds, and client engagement.
The position can be based in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore or Sydney.
Program Details
Successful candidates will begin their tenure as an InvesTech Associate, with a first rotation through the Technology team to learn how Wellington’s robust technology suite is designed, built, tested, and supported to drive Wellington’s innovation and operational edge to exceed the investment and service expectations for our clients and business partners worldwide.
During the technology rotation the InvesTech Associate will:
Engage with business users such as investors, traders, or client relations to assess their technology needs, understand workflows, and propose solutions
Create functional specifications and user requirement documents that outline enhancements, defect fixes, and integrate with existing system architecture
Partner with development teams to build solutions and participate in testing efforts
Ensure user acceptance by leading training sessions and gathering continuous feedback
Upon completion of the technology rotation, Associates will move on to a financial operations role based on their interests and the InvesTech department’s needs, gaining insight into the asset management industry and exposure to groups across Wellington including trading, portfolio management, legal and compliance, and client servicing.
Examples of financial operations roles include:
Client Investment Services
Collaborate on technology initiatives designed to enhance the way the firm services our clients.
Participate in drafting responses to questionnaires requested by new business prospects, existing clients, and investment consultants.
Customize investment content for use in quarterly reporting to clients.
Support the team in its goal of providing timely and automated information for reporting for our clients.
Assist team with a variety of group-wide projects aimed at creating efficiencies and scalability with respect to client and prospect reporting
Coordinate and conduct analysis of client portfolios, respond to client inquiries on a wide variety of topics, and perform other tasks as appropriate.
Fund Services Client Solutions
Assist with technology projects
Perform Fund Controller responsibilities for various funds, including Fund Accounting and Financial Reporting tasks
Perform Treasury Analyst tasks, including monitoring margin and exposure changes and stock loan analysis
Assist the team in terms of Transfer Agency tasks, including monitoring of daily transactions from the fund investor and providing the information to internal/external parties and responding back to the queries.
Assist the team in terms of Japan ITM related business, especially in the area of day-to-day ITM accounting support and communication.
Complete analytical projects related to the business, regulatory and investment oversight of our funds
Interact with and building relationships across all functions and levels of the organization
Lead ongoing ad hoc business, product, and finance-oriented projects
Client Operations & Transition Services
Content localization and translation coordination for Asian languages and materials design. More collectively, focus on infrastructure design and operation to enhance quality, productivity and cost efficiency in local language materials production
Process design and client liaison and delivery platform
Regulatory Operations
Client transition and solutions, provide various day-day operational service to client in APAC
Investment Implementation, Business Operations & Strategy
Provide investment teams with the appropriate controls and support to ensure investments are made in accordance with the client’s investment guidelines and regulatory requirements
Support the operational and client services functions related to investment in bank loans
Oversee trade settlements, monitoring controls to ensure data integrity
Implementation of investment ideas into client portfolios in accordance to client guidelines and direction.
Liaising with the Trading Team on liquidity and cash management.
Thought partner with Product Management, Relationship Team and Client Servicing team in building the book of business of various products.
Qualifications
Undergraduates graduating with a Bachelor’s degree between Fall 2024 – Summer 2025
Demonstrated interest in process, technology, and the investment management industry (all majors and backgrounds welcome to apply)
Strong academic performance
Proven leadership experience and participation in community service and extracurricular activities
Experience or coursework in at least one of the following areas:
Business decision making, including critically analyzing business processes and using technical skills to propose solutions and enhancements
Systems analysis, including requirements gathering, user stories, and test planning
Software engineering, including design patterns, programming languages, and constructs e.g., Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, SQL, Office Suite
Possess work authorization to legally work in the selected office location without employment sponsorship
Skills

Well organized, ability to multi-task and detail-oriented
Ability to work both individually and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Ability to learn new concepts and subjects quickly
