Timber Products Company Payroll Manager in Central Point, Oregon

TP Trucking, a division of Timber Products Co., is looking for an experienced payroll administrator to lead the payroll function for the trucking division.

POSITION SUMMARY

Possess experience in several aspects of payroll including day-to-day operations, oversight, process improvement, payroll tax, benefit plans, internal/external audit, and understanding of multiple applications. Working cross-functionally with HR, Operations, and IT in support of accurate and timely processing of payroll at TP Trucking. Responsible for knowing and adhering to all laws and regulations related to the payroll function.

MAJOR TASKS

  • Responsible for oversight of payroll administration and taxes in a multi-state environment.

  • Support and maintain effective internal controls for the payroll function.

  • Responsible for supporting and adhering to company policies and procedures.

  • Maintain current knowledge of payroll practices and changes in payroll laws.

  • Generate and distribute necessary reports to appropriate personnel and assist division controller and HR Manager with inquiries and research or analysis.

  • Lead payroll staff and related processes – including:

  • Ensures timely processing of weekly payroll and related withholding filings and activities.

  • Calculates driver pay per load hauled and work performed.

  • Ensures proper calculations of mechanic pay weekly.

  • Receives, reviews, responds to, and tracks garnishment and other payroll deductions.

  • Provides payroll files and payroll deduction information to Accounting for the general ledger and for accounts payable.

  • Follows up on any errors and ensures resolutions have occurred.

  • Documents and maintains all payroll processes.

  • Maintains records of weekly indemnity eligibility and payments

  • Provides training on policies, regulations, and processes.

  • Performs all supervisory responsibilities associated with payroll staff including, training, completing performance reviews, handling employee relations issues, etc.

    Customer billing activities which drive Driver Payroll processes:

  • Prepares invoicing daily of customer shipments using driver’s paperwork.

  • Provides customer service for proof of deliveries requested.

  • Matches bill of lading with appropriate order to give the customer what they require.

  • Scans and annotates paperwork as needed.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 3-5 years payroll administration experience required.

  • A Minimum of 1 year experience in a leadership role.

  • An Associate degree in accounting, Business Administration or related field is preferred but not required.

  • CPP or FPC designation preferred.

  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Experience using computerized payroll systems.

  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

  • Proficiency in personal computer use with Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Must have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Ceridian and/or McLeod experience is a plus!
