Touro University Visiting or Full-time Legal Process Faculty in Central Islip, New York
Overview
The Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center is pleased to announce that it is currently seeking applicants for a visiting or full-time appointment to its Legal Process (Legal Research and Writing) faculty starting in August 2025. Legal Process is a six-credit first-year course. Students receive three credits in the fall semester and three credits in the spring semester. In addition to the standard focus on predictive writing in the fall and persuasive writing in the spring, students are introduced to client interviewing. They are also introduced to client counseling and/or negotiation
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Prepare and teach graduate law student courses in a physical classroom and/or a virtual classroom
Prepare course materials such as syllabi, assessments, final examinations, assignments and handouts
Timely grade student assessments
Maintain regularly scheduled office hours in order to advise and assist students
Stay current in and continually strive to improve teaching skills and expertise in the subjects that they teach
Stay informed of changes in the law and pedagogical practices in legal research and writing
Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues
Engage in legal research and produce legal scholarship, as appropriate to the position
Commit to service to legal education and to the wider community
Engage in the intellectual life of the Law Center, which includes significant service to the Law Center.
Participate on faculty committees
Attend faculty meetings and Law Center events
Participate in service outside the Law Center, appropriate to the position
Qualifications
Degrees
Juris Doctor required.
J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school
Education, Preparation, and Training
Preference for both legal practice and teaching experience
Commitment to teaching in an environment dedicated to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students
An established record or promise of excellence in teaching legal research and writing.
Trains and teaches others
Interprets the meaning of information
Ability to make decisions and solve problems
Resolves conflicts and negotiates with others
Updates and uses relevant knowledge
Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills in communications with supervisors, peers, and subordinates
Displays excellent organizational skills including scheduling of events
Performs faculty administrative responsibilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, & Outlook
Knowledge of Canvas
Knowledge of Zoom and other online communication tools
Travel
- Travel for conferences and professional development.

Maximum Salary
USD $90,000.00/Yr.
Minimum Salary
USD $72,000.00/Yr.
