Collins is looking for an experienced electrical engineer who is passionate about electronics, enjoys leading teams of talented engineers, and who is eager to take on big challenges in the fast-growing Cabin Systems market. As part of this team, you will work with customers and team members in a technologically advanced and challenging field supporting the development of new hardware and functionality across multiple products including: Smart cabin displays, network switches, audio/video equipment, Netflix like streaming service, wireless technology, Android/IOS App development, 3D Graphics with OpenGL, Embedded Java development, graphical user interface development with emphasis on user experience and cabin entertainment systems and helping to bridge consumer electronics to the aerospace industry. Position will be an onsite role in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Relocation may be available.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead hardware engineers in the design, verification, and support of internal and 3rd party cabin electronics products.

  • Debug issues in the lab related to PWB layouts, IC communication, and power supply circuits.

  • Provide oversight and support of 3rd party subcontractors.

  • Prepare and maintain project plans, budgets, and staffing requirements to ensure that all action item lists are completed, and project quality expectations are met.

  • Act as the technical interface between program management, customers, sub-contractors, and engineering leadership and ensuring effective communication between them.

  • Participate in the creation and review of new product designs and associated documentation for new programs.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

  • Practical experience in all aspects/phases the hardware engineering product lifecycle

  • General design background in digital/analog circuits including processors, memory, serial bus communication, ADC/DACs, and power supplies circuits

  • Experience with schematic capture and PWB layout.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to use standard lab tools (Oscilloscopes, Multimeter, etc)

  • Experience with EMI testing in accordance with DO-160

  • Experience in Project Management

  • Experience working in highly cross-functional environments

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Cost Account Management

  • Experience with aircraft lighting, audio/video software development and integration

  • Experience with both waterfall and Agile development life cycles

This role is also eligible for the Re-Empower Program.
