Consultant and influence leadership on a broad range of HR matters, including performance management, talent development, goal setting, succession planning, conflict resolution, total compensation, employee and labor relations, talent acquisition, learning and development, workforce planning and development, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Design and implement new approaches, policies, and procedures to influence continuous improvement in business objectives, productivity, and development within the company and human resources.
Optimize relationships and use critical thinking in order to develop and execute human resource strategies that align with business unit and company goals and strategies by proactively consulting with customers.
Understand the entire talent system and each stage of the employee lifecycle and moments that matter, and apply that understanding to integrated solutions that are thoughtful and support our talent programs
Embrace and integrate diversity, equity and inclusion in business strategies.
Partner with recruitment to focus on acquiring and retaining top talent and building a solid pipeline for future needs.
Partner with other human resource areas to provide input on guidance for compensation administration, including job description and job family development, salary recommendations, and annual merit and performance pay processes.
Participate in labor relations-specific activities such as labor contract negotiations, grievance resolution, and arbitrations (for areas that have labor contracts).
Lead the investigation process for compliance/ethical complaints, discrimination complaints and employee misconduct.
Counsel management and employees on non-routine company policy, procedure, and employment and labor law inquiries and provides appropriate recommendations.

Alliant Energy has a current opening for a HR Business Partner with a strong labor relations focus to join our team! This position will primarily provide support to the Alliant Energy Iowa Operations organization, providing business units with top tier Labor Relations and HR support.
We are looking for an individual with experience supporting the bargaining workforce. Energy, passion and drive are essential to this role as is the ability to build effective working relationships with internal customers and stakeholders.
Daily work could include:
Participation in bargaining unit contract negotiations and grievance meetings.
Consulting with managerial and other staff regarding bargaining unit contract interpretation.
Providing strategic HR support to customers across the organization.
Supporting leadership in workforce planning, talent development and change management.
Where will I work?
This position will have a mix of working from home, and in the Cedar Rapids, IA office least twice a week, to work with customers face to face. Travel to our operating centers in Iowa will also be done as needed. The successful candidate for this position must reside in Iowa.

Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in human resources, business management or a related discipline.
In this role we are looking for an individual with strong labor relations experience.
7 years of experience in human resources consulting, labor relations or other generalist role.
Experience developing and gaining customer engagement in strategic HR solutions in support of organizational goals.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws and practices
Solid understanding of the provisions of HR regulations, laws, and compliance requirements..
Advanced ability to effectively provide consultation to employees and leadership on complex human resource issues.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to work effectively with all levels of personnel inside or outside the company.
Excellent relationship building, conflict management and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects and work initiatives at one time.
Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).
Ability to multi-task, plan, and carry out responsibilities with minimum of direction.
Ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment.
