State of Utah - Jobs Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor II - in CEDAR CITY, Utah

If you enjoy providing counseling and guidance while assisting individuals with disabilities to obtain employment and independence,this is the job for you!  The Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is seeking a motivated and highly skilled *Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor II *to join our Utah State Office of Rehabilitation (USOR) team in the Southern Utah District located in Cedar City. This will allow you to practice the latest techniques in rehabilitation counseling while developing strong partnerships with other agencies and programs to help clients enter or reenter the labor market.

 

Principal Duties

The Rehabilitation Counselor II performs the following tasks:

  • This position may be under filled as a Rehabilitation Counselor I or a Rehabilitation Trainee.
    • Rehabilitation Trainee - BS Degree - No work related experience - $20.42
    • Rehabilitation Counselor I - BS Degree + 1 year work related experience - $22.45
    • Rehabilitation Counselor II - Masters in VRC or related field + 1 year work related experience - $24.66
    • A 5% salary increase will be provided to individuals who are Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRC). 

The Ideal Applicant The model applicant for this position is someone who:

  • Has a Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling or a related field of study. Related degrees are those accepted under category 3 as defined by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) website{target="_blank"}.
  • Possesses the ability and willingness to be eligible to hold a state of Utah Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor license within 5 years. To obtain this license you must complete 4,000 hours of disability related work experience as well as sit for and obtain a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor certification (CRC).
  • Has a 3.0 GPA or higher as an undergraduate in a related field of study (See Category 3 related degrees through the link above).
  • Is capable of independent thinking,autonomy and managerial skills.
  • Has the ability to establish and maintain community relationships.

*Preference * Preference points may be given for the following:

  • A Licensed Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (LVRC) or Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC).
  • Current state of Utah employees.
  • One or more years of professional experience in counseling.
  • If under-filled,candidates who are currently enrolled in an RSA approved MRC program.
