Position Summary

 

The Tony-award winning UTAH SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL, a professional theater company in residence at Southern Utah University, is accepting applications for Production Staff for the 2025 season. The Utah Shakespeare Festival produces a six-show repertory season and three Green Shows across three venues in the summer/fall of each year. Position details below. Work dates vary by position. Most build contracts begin April/May and end June/July. Run contracts Begin in May/June and end September/October. Please check dates in specific job descriptions.

 

• Deck Carpenter: work begins late April and continues through mid September or mid October depending on the assignment.

• Carpenter Apprentice/Stage Crew: work begins late April and continues through mid September or mid October depending on the assignment.

• Stage crew: work begins late May and continues through mid September or mid October depending on the assignment

 

Essential Functions

 

Deck Carpenters:

 

• Participates in the Construction and load-in of scenic elements for assigned productions.

• Supervises and participates in the changeover and props for scenic elements of assigned productions.

• Supervises and participates in carpentry, prop and paint notes to ensure they are completed properly and in a timely manner.

• Acts as a swing crew member for assignment productions in the event of crew member absence.

 

Apprentice Carpenter/Stage Crew:

 

• Participates in the Construction and load-in of scenic elements for assigned productions.

• Responsible for running, changeover, and maintenance of scenery for assigned productions.

 

Stage Crew

 

• Responsible for running, changeover, and maintenance of scenery for assigned productions.

 

Education & Experience

 

All positions:

 

• Must be able to carry 50 lbs. for 50 feet unassisted. Must be able to use ladders over 6' as a part of daily tasks.

• Prior experience in technical theater preferred

 

Apprentice and Deck Carpenter

 

• Knowledge of proper and safe use of typical shop tools and equipment, wood and steel construction techniques or other related technical theater fields.

 

Deck Carpenter:

 

• Experience leading crews
