IRON COUNTY Patrol Deputy Roster in CEDAR CITY, Utah

Iron County is accepting applications to create a hiring roster for employment as a Patrol Deputy. This roster can be utilized for a period of 12 - 18 months. Please note we may not currently have vacancies. However, we will utilize this roster to fill positions as they become available.

Minimum requirements: Applicant must be 21 years of age prior to graduation from POST Academy. Must pass P.O.S.T Pre-Entrance Exam with a score of 70% or higher (Copy of test scores or current LEO Certification should be submitted with Applicant Packet), Must be a US Citizen, have a high school diploma or equivalent, possess a Utah Driver License in good standing. Preference will be given to those holding a current Utah POST Cat 1 Law Enforcement Officer Certificate. A written and physical examination must be passed along with a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background investigation and 15-week POST Law Enforcement Officer Training Program.

Minimum starting wage for those who are not Utah POST certified is $25.26/hour.  (Because there are significant costs to Iron County for those who are not certified and need to attend the P.O.S.T. training academy after hire, Iron County will ask for a 2-year employment commitment to begin after the certification is complete.  Iron County will expect repayment of prorated training costs for months of the 2-year agreement not completed.  If you have questions, please contact the HR Office.)

P.O.S.T Certified Applicants Salary will depend on years of experience and qualifications/certifications (current policy will allow for credit of up to 10 years, into the assigned pay range, for verifiable LEO experience) A $5,000 sign on bonus is available to those who are not current/former employees of Iron County and who have the required certifications (A two-year employment commitment is required).
