Global Merchant Services is the merchant acquirer, processor and marketing partner for the millions of merchants around the world who accept the American Express Card. The GMS Lead Financial Office (LFO) team is responsible for providing value-add consultative and analytical support to the Merchant Services LAC General Manager to evaluate financial performance, identify profit improvement opportunities, and develop metrics with key business partners to actively manage the profitability of the merchant’s portfolio.

How will you make an impact in this role?

The Finance Manager supporting LAC Merchant Services provides financial business analysis, consultative decision support and strategic analysis. This role interacts with a broad range of internal costumers from the Merchants Business and Marketing teams in Mexico and Argentina, other GMS LFOs in US, International and HQ teams, as well as other LFOs from ICS and GNS organizations.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to gain deep knowledge of the Merchant Acquisition business, as well as exposure to and insight from senior leadership. The Finance Manager should have a strong business sense, strategic mindset, solid analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive monthly, annually and long-term P&L Planning and Forecasting in alignment with the business strategy and particular focus on Drivers, Revenues and PTI growth.

  • Provide P&L tracking and analysis of monthly results including insights on volume and revenue trends by industry and merchant, impact of macroeconomic indicators and analysis of potential risks and opportunities.

  • Develop profitability analysis, including Cost and Benefits analysis for key projects and initiatives, as well as Contribution Margin analysis for merchant’s segments.

  • Provide thought leadership and business case development support for merchant value propositions and charge volume expansion opportunities.

  • Support key business initiatives, including strategic decisioning, operational efficiency, deal/portfolio management, and Sales & AD investment optimization.

  • Support the expansion of OptBlue, PayFacs and other merchant coverage strategies in the LAC markets.

  • Partner across Business and Finance teams on cross-functional exercises to identify growth opportunities and areas of risk, leveraging big-data sources and profitability metrics to influence business leadership and drive key priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science or Data Science, Engineering and Business Administration

  • Experience with P&L planning processes and month-end results

  • Proficient use of financial platforms TM1 and Tableau.

  • Ability to manage large amounts of data through analytical tools such as Excel and SQL. Spot trends & generate meaningful insights through LUMI

  • Synthesize data into an easy-to-understand story & articulate key messages across multiple audiences

  • Proven ability to drive timely results, prioritize deliverables and generate analytical ideas

  • Highly motivated individual with desire to work on ambiguous projects as well as able to break down complex ideas into understandable and actionable messages

  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and quality, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • Fast, independent learner, intellectually curious, flexible and proactive

  • Fluent English and Spanish
