We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary
Dominion Energy South Carolina’s SCADA (Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition) Engineering Department is hiring in Cayce, SC. This positon is responsible for providing technical support and solutions for utility communication schemes in South Carolina. There is one position available and will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
This engineering position, in the Power Delivery SCADA Engineering Department, will be responsible for:
Developing RTU (remote terminal unit) designs and configurations for generation, transmission, and substation systems.
The candidate will be expected to possess strong analytical skills and be a proven problem solver in both team and independent settings.
The candidate will learn to be proficient in several vendor configuration software tools and will be expected to understand and maintain compliance with the NERC Reliability Standards.
This position must engage and interact with Transmission and Substation Engineering, Transmission and Substation Operations, System Control, System Protection Engineering, ERO Compliance, Senior Management, and others in order to be successful.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Minimum Requirements (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):
Engineer I
0-2+ years of engineering experience
Basic knowledge of engineering concepts, fundamentals and theory
Oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing)
Effective decision making skills
Computer skills and application of software programs, including Microsoft Office Suites, especially Word and Excel
Analytical and abstract thinking skills
Problem solving skill
Ability to learn to apply engineering theories and concepts to complex problems
Ability to interpret NERC Reliability Standards
Ability to develop effective planning, project and organization skills
Ability to develop project management skills and to handle multiple tasks
Ability to work within a team environment.
Engineer II
3+ years of relevant engineering experience
Ability to interpret NERC Reliability Standards and develop process to ensure compliance is maintained
Knowledge and application of engineering theories and principles, concepts, and fundamentals
Requires developmental experience in a professional engineering position
Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives
Understands and can apply knowledge of configuration management
Ability to read and understand substation electrical prints/drawings
Understanding/experience with electrical wiring termination and routing
Experience with serial communication networks (e.g. RS485/RS232)
Ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Excel, etc.)
Planning, organizational and project management skills
Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills
Effective decision-making skills
Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing)
Ability to think analytically and solve complex problem
Equally effective working independently or in a team environment
Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks
Engineer III
5+ years of relevant engineering experience
Ability to interpret NERC Reliability Standards, develop process to ensure compliance is maintained, and act as a Subject Matter Expert
Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles
Skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines
Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead
Provide guidance to less experienced engineers
Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing)
Strong personal computer skills
Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems
In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Excel, etc.)
An understanding/experience with Boolean Logic
An understanding/experience with Lua programming language
Experience with SCADA Protocols (e.g. DNP/MODBUS)
Experience with setting up communications to SEL relays
Experience with Ethernet device communications and IP schemes
An understanding/experience with Network topology (e.g. Firewalls/Routers/Switches)
Equally effective working independently or in team environment
Proven decision-making skills
Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks
Strong planning, organizational and project management skills
