Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission Park Aide (Upper Cowlitz Area) in Castle Rock, Washington

Experience the natural beauty of Washington State Parks and get paid to do it! The Park Aide performs a variety of tasks at a State park, beach, or historical area. A typical work day may include anything from registering campers and collecting camp fees, to cleaning facilities, area beautification, or explaining park rules. The specific duties will have some variation by park location. ___________________________ This recruitment will be used to fill multiple non-permanent Park Aide positions located throughout the Upper Cowlitz Area; Ike Kinswa, Lewis and Clark , Mt. St. Helens Visot Center, and Seaquest State Parks. Most positions are 3-5 months in duration, beginning in April-May. The number of vacancies and housing availability will vary from park to park.Positions may be scheduled to work 40 hours a week during the busiest months but may be scheduled for less than full-time at the beginning and end of the season. Ike Kinswa State Park - (located in Lewis County) is a 454-acre camping park with 46,000-feet of freshwater shoreline on the north side of Mayfield Lake. The park provides good fishing, recreational boating, and opportunities for swimming and children's play. The campsites are forested and available year-round.Lewis and Clark State Park- (located in Lewis County) is a 621-acre camping park situated in one of the last major stands of old-growth forest in the state. Coniferous trees, streams, wetlands, dense vegetation, and wet prairie comprise the park environment. The park contains a vast stand of rare old-growth forest. It is a Civilian Conservation Corps park, and many of the buildings constructed by the corps remain in use today.Seaquest State Park- (located in Cowlitz County) is a 475-acre, year-round camping park across the Spirit Lake Highway from the Mount St. Helens Visitor Center. Seasonal fishing, boating and swimming are available nearby. The visitor center is a destination unto itself. Ranger talks, documentary film showings, naturalist-led hikes and interpretive exhibits bring to life the mountain's geology and history. It's a tour through time, from prehistory to the earth-altering 1980 explosion and the area's recovery. Mount St. Helens Visitor Center - (located in Cowlitz County) This unique building provides visitors a variety of interpretive displays that include comprehensive information on local history, geology, re-growth and the recovery of the land in the years immediately following Mount St. Helen's eruption. Duties:Under the supervision of the Park Ranger, Park Aides perform a variety of tasks at a State Park, beach, or historical area. A typical work day may include anything from registering campers and collecting camp fees, to cleaning facilities, mowing lawns, or explaining park rules.
