Assists Facilities Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor in planning, organizing, participating, and reviewing the work of an assigned team personnel. Engages in any combination of, but not limited to, daily performance or direction to staff to perform semi-skilled and skilled work involving painting, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, and electrical maintenance in the alteration, repair, and maintenance of County equipment, buildings, and grounds. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following examples are illustrative only and are not intended to be all-inclusive.)
May exercise direct or indirect supervision of employees, operations, and activities; may include coordinating staff training, assigning and reviewing work, participating in the interview and selection process, making recommends impacting pay, status, and disciplinary action, evaluating performance independently or in conjunction with a higher-level supervisor/manager, and approving time off. Conducts and/or coordinates orientation, training, and ongoing education programs for staff. Provides instructions and guidance, coordinates work schedules, and may approve timesheets. Assists with establishing and updating Facilities Safety and Security plans and Emergency Response Procedures. Assumes the duties of the Facilities Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor in his or her absence, to include preparing required reports. Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor, this person will help to document and inventory maintenance requirements for all operating systems at all County Facilities. Assist in maintaining database work orders and record of the maintenance history of all facility operating systems and equipment and conduct equipment inspections regularly. Maintains accurate and timely facility maintenance expenses and maintenance of management records and files. Assists in the administration of miscellaneous contract programs. Oversees inventory control programs and systems to ensure accuracy. Purchases parts and supplies required within the area of responsibility and approved budget guidelines. Maintains a safe work environment by following codes, standards and legal regulations. Participates in major maintenance/construction activities. Inspects and performs complex maintenance tasks throughout the County involving mechanical, electrical, carpentry, and plumbing tasks. Makes repairs of doors, windows, floors, lockers, gates, roofs, and ceilings. Applies paint to building interiors, fixtures, equipment, or exteriors; strips and paints or stains cabinets, doors, and woodwork. Installs, maintains, and repairs plumbing systems and a variety of plumbing fixtures such as faucets, sinks, toilets, and water heaters. Operates, maintains, adjusts, and repairs a wide variety of equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required. A minimum of five years of commercial building maintenance, repair experience, or related experience is required. One year of supervisory or lead experience preferred A combination of education and experience may be considered.
