Job Summary

The Food Safety Technician is responsible for the coordination & execution of the key food safety prerequisite programs including, but not limited to, pest control, food safety inspection, critical utilities, chemical control, environmental monitoring, quality & food safety training, equipment/calibration and facilities programs in addition to general site production support. The Food Safety Technician must work closely with members of other functional teams to achieve defined objectives, sustain compliance with internal & regulatory standards, and ensure a food safe environment.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates, maintains and executes the defined prerequisite programs (e.g. - pest control, food safety / cGMP inspection program, critical utilities, chemical control, environmental monitoring, equipment/calibration and facilities programs) and site food safety plan

  • Supervises and coordinates tasks of external companies and vendors (e.g. - external cleaning company, pest control provider, calibration certification body, auditors)

  • Supports the site quality team in the assessment of compliance against internal Global Quality & Food Safety Standards. Assists in the development and execution of processes / programs / documentation to close identified gaps

  • Responsible for developing, maintaining and evaluating cleaning and sanitation procedures

  • Helps develop food safety corrective and preventive action plans and assists in task closures

  • Assists in maintenance of food safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and improvement plans

  • Supports management of customer complaint issues and helps to drive continuous improvement

  • Supports product release activities

  • Facilitates site quality and food safety training

Education/ Experience Requirements

Basic qualifications include:

  • 1-3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment

  • Italian speaking proficiency

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Vocational or Bachelor degree in a science related field of study

  • Knowledge of HACCP & associated prerequisite food safety programs

  • 1 year of experience working in a food safety capacity in a manufacturing site

  • English speaking proficiency
