Job Summary:

Knife River – Casper Division is accepting applications for an Asphalt Superintendent for our construction services operations. This is a full time position located in Casper, Wyoming. The normal work week is Monday – Friday and Saturdays as needed to maintain schedule totaling 50 to 60+ hours per week. This position is a working Superintendent position with applicant required to be engaged in all tasks associated with the construction of Heavy/Highway projects.

  1. This position will require oversight of all employees on crews and will include orientation, coaching/training, provide direction, and overall personnel management.

  2. This position will require oversight of all construction activities related to the project including but not limited to scheduling and assigning resources and monitoring daily progress and costs. This also includes coordination with suppliers and subcontractors.

  3. Responsible for entire job safety program. This includes compliance and implementation of all company standards and any federal and state regulations as applicable. The Superintendent is also responsible for subcontractor safety compliance.

  4. The Superintendent will report directly to Knife River’s Construction Manager and will communicate timely and effectively on all aspects of the project.

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires 20 + years of experience in Heavy/Civil/Highway asphalt construction with proven knowledge of the current state and federal construction safety regulations or equivalent. Applicant shall have at least 6 years of experience in a management role as a Superintendent. Applicant must also possess the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and a qualifying driving record under company policy. Applicant must successfully pass a post offer pre-employment drug test and physical. This is a town based construction position with periodic out of town work. Experience with grading/prep, installation of curb and gutter, sidewalk, milling, and parking lot and highway paving on private and public work is required. Applicant shall be proficient in the operation of all equipment necessary for above grading, paving, concrete, and utility installation activities. Applicant shall be detail oriented, proficient in reading plans and specifications, and be WYDOT certified in aggregates and asphalt. Basic computer skills are required including proficient in the use of HCSS Heavy Job. Applicant shall also, be proficient in the use and application of Topcon GPS including machine control, 3D and mmGPS paving, modeling, etc…

Physical Requirements:

Job requires steady to intermittent physical activity including: standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, walking on uneven ground, lifting, carrying, pushing, etc…
