Description
Looking to teach and care for young children in your local community? Then join our Children & Family Services program! Easterseals Blake Foundation offers a variety of services including childcare centers, early head start, and home visitation.
Parent Educators will provide a comprehensive home visitation program implementing the Parents as Teachers evidence-based model for expecting parents and at-risk families. This strengths-based program uses parent coaching to provide developmental screening, Family Service Plan development, home visitation, Family Connections group sessions, and connections to community resources and services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide a Comprehensive Parent as Teachers Program.
- Accept referrals, contact family to schedule a home visit.
- Meet with the family at a time convenient to explain the program components.
- Collect child health and developmental information; determine other screenings which may be required.
- Conduct with family participation developmental, hearing, and vision screenings.
- Assess family strengths and resources, including informal support systems.
- Convene a Family Service Plan meeting to develop functional child and family goals and outcomes.
- Facilitate referrals to community resources/services.
- Provide parent coaching within natural environments to increase family capacity to support their
- childs development.
- Plan and provide Family Connections Group meetings available to families at least once a month.
- Support family to develop a child portfolio, the All About Me Book.
- Collaborate with community agencies/service providers to promote timely and seamless services to children and families.
- Complete all program documentation requirements and maintain confidential, individual child files.
- Maintain and effective and professional working relationship with families and referral sources.
- Support families through transitions to other services as necessary.
- Assess and support access to emergency needs of families for food, diapers, clothing, and transportation.
- Ensure fidelity to First Things First Standards of Practice, as well as National PAT model implementation standards.
- Function as an enthusiastic, competent, contributing member of EBF staff.
- Complete initial Parents as Teachers Foundational and Model Implementation Training (5 days) requirements and maintain knowledge of best practices and current research; complete 20 hours of professional development annually.
- Use Reflective Supervision effectively, accept feedback and share experiences working with families.
- Attend and participate in all required staff meetings.
- Participate in PAT Self-Assessment and Program Evaluation processes; FTF monitoring activities and contribute to the development and implementation of improvement plans.
- Comply with State, Federal and Other Relevant Regulations/Requirements-
- Report suspected neglect/abuse to the Department of Child Safety (DCS) and supervisor, complete required documentation.
- Comply with privacy laws and requirement under HIPAA regulations
- Follow all safety procedures required by EBF.
