Job Summary:
- Contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN, under the direction of an RN.
- Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
- May administer medication.
- Document patient care given.
- Assists with patients with performing activities of daily living.
- Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
- This position works as ad advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
- Observes central monitor screens, interprets, recognizes and records changes in patient's rhythms and notifies nurse as appropriate.
Requirements:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Certification: Basic Life Support required upon hire or must be obtained within 90 days of employment, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 12 months of employment.
- IV Therapy Certification preferred.
- Six months to one year experience as LPN in medical/surgical unit. New graduates will be considered.
- Practical Nursing Diploma required.
