ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Performs intermediate professional work providing nutritional care and services for the Health Department in the Women, Infants, Children (WIC) Program through essential functions such as assessing nutritional needs, developing nutrition plans, maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Nutritionist III. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Thorough knowledge of the principles of normal and therapeutic nutrition Thorough knowledge of nutrition and dietary assessment techniques Thorough knowledge of human behavior and techniques for effecting change Ability to interpret nutritional and dietary data Skill in preparing reports, health, and medical histories Ability to monitor and maintain quality standards Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, the general public, other professionals, and associates

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: (Candidates should provide documentation of registration status from the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics; provide college or university transcripts or ACEND/CADE verification statement) Registered Dietitian with the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics OR Masters Degree from an appropriately accredited institution in Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition, or Nutrition OR Bachelors Degree in Dietetics from an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics accredited didactic program and two (2) years of nutrition experience OR Bachelors Degree from an appropriately accredited institution and Dietetic Technician, registered with the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics and two (2) years of nutrition experience OR Bachelors Degree from an appropriately accredited institution in Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition, or Community Nutrition and two (2) years of nutrition experience * Applications for Nutritionist I work against will be considered if no qualified Nutritionist II applicants are available. Minimum education and experience requirements for Nutritionist I are: Bachelors Degree in Dietetics from an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics accredited didactic program OR Bachelors Degree from an appropriately accredited institution and Dietetic Technician, registered with the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics OR Bachelors Degree from an appropriately accredited institution in Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition, or Community Nutrition

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina drivers license

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information throug oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, use of measuring devices, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions. The worker may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
