The Challenge

We are looking for an experienced Engineer Manager to serve as our Division 8 Project Team Lead and Title VI Liaison. Your team manages and oversees assigned projects from inception to final construction plans in accordance with NCDOT policy, current standards, and specifications. The team also oversees project scopes, schedules, and budgets.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead a team of project managers, an engineering supervisor, engineers, technical experts, and support staff.
  • Oversee the development of all deliverables necessary in the preparation of a project for construction including planning documents, final construction plans, and all supporting studies and analyses.
  • Manage resource allocations and utilization to successfully deliver all projects and coach/develop staff.

What You Bring

  • Knowledge and understanding of engineering concepts, practices, and theories used in project development.
  • Experience planning, developing, designing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects, independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Experience interpreting and communicating, verbally and in writing, details of plans, project documents, policies and procedures to convey information to consultants, staff, and others.
  • Experience making recommendations and decisions for simple to complex project development based on reviewing plans for completeness, compliance with engineering principles, standards, and design needs.
  • Experience supervising, motivating, counseling, and training engineers and technicians.
  • Experience leading and maintaining positive working relationships with environmental agencies, public officials, consultants, contractors, and staff to find acceptable solutions to infrastructure project challenges.
  • You promote a safe work environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and complete difficult assignments within specified time requirements.
  • Ability to communicate, establish, and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, business associates and the public.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, and
  • 6+ years progressive engineering experience, and
  • 4+ years of supervisory experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.

Note

  • We may require (and prefer) candidates to be registered as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
