Robert Half Sr. Cost Accountant in Cartersville, Georgia

Description We are seeking a Sr. Cost Accountant for our operations in Cartersville, Georgia. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity. The Sr. Cost Accountant will be primarily responsible for maintaining the financial accounting system, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of financial statements, and performing cost analysis.

Responsibilities:

• Account reconciliation, variance analysis, reports/statement preparation as part of month-end and quarter-end accounting duties.

• Direct interaction with supervisors/managers in annual budgeting and forecasting process.

• Responsible for bank accounts, term deposits, commercial papers, and any other investments and reconciling total funds available to the general ledger.

• Ensure validity of invoices for payment.

• Accounting for and tracking of capital expenditures.

• Monitor and report on current and future capital projects, ensuring compliance with codes of practice and principles.

• Develop and manage the capital expenditure plan and analyze proposed projects.

• Provide reporting guidance as required to allow capital management decision making.

• Assist with the forecast process for costs related to capital projects.

• Assist with financial close out work associated with the projects, including capitalization guidance and post project completion audits.

• Reconciliation of key GL accounts, such as accounts payable, payroll, prepaids, accruals, etc.

• Prepare documentation in accordance with Statutory & Taxation requirements.

• Prepare KPIs and identify ways to implement performance improvement.

• Provide training and development to team as need including training in financial systems. Requirements • Proven experience in Cost Accounting and Cost Analysis

• Proficiency in Account Reconciliation and managing General Ledger

• Experience with Month End Close procedures

• Extensive knowledge of SAP software for accounting

• Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for financial data management and analysis

• Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data and costs

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is a plus

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work

• Ability to work independently and within a team.
