Southwire Job Description
At Southwire we continue to modernize and consolidate IT infrastructure, automate workloads, and pursue next-generation innovation. To continue this transformation, we’re seeking an experienced well-versed systems engineer with expertise in the strategy, design, development, and implementation of large-scale projects in the cloud and/or on premise.
We’re currently seeking a highly skilled systems engineer to provide the business knowledge and technical expertise to implement strategies, evaluate products, and build upon an infrastructure that supports the ever-changing needs of our organization. In this role, you will work with complex systems, designing, developing, and integrating them at every stage of its life cycle. Key Responsibilities
• Work within the server engineering team to support and manage the existing Server Infrastructure that spans the enterprise.
• Install and configure server operating systems, software, and hardware components, and clearly document the design, maintenance, and support procedures for routine tasks to leverage IT support staff
• Participate and occasionally lead Server Infrastructure projects that are part of our modernization strategy throughout the environment.
• Work within our cloud-hosted environments to support new and existing systems and applications.
• Take the lead in ongoing security patching of the server environment and in the remediation of any critical vulnerabilities identified by the Cybersecurity team.
• Conduct high-level root-cause analysis for service interruption and establish preventive measures
• Participate in all DR Exercises and Testing and lead efforts to create a robust, highly available infrastructure environment.
• Identify and implement scripts and/or automation that assist the server engineering team's daily activities.
• Assist with the support of new and existing database systems throughout the environment.
Skills and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in technology or equivalent experience
• 10+ Years’ experience in a similar role within IT.
• Expert-level experience in Server/Systems Administration
• Intermediate level of Experience with Databases such as Oracle and SQL.
• Basic Understanding of Networking and Terminology
• Advanced level of Experience in VMWARE
• Public Cloud Experience, including AWS, GCP, Azure
• Experience with Enterprise Storage Systems.
• Experience with Dell Server Hardware
• Advanced level of experience in Backup/Restore System
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's
Specialized Degree: Technology
Years of Experience: 5-7 years
Field of Expertise: IT Server Administration and Engineering
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Education Level: Master's
Specialized Degree:
Certificates: Google Cloud, VMWARE
Years of Experience: 10-15 years
