Human Resources Generalist (Employee Relations)

Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as aHuman Resources Generalistto join our team located in Carlsbad, NM.

The successful candidate will primarily be assigned full time responsibilities performing investigations of employee relations issues, potential violations of the SIMCO Rules of Conduct, procedure violations, and other issues requiring research and investigation by the Human Resources Department and make appropriate recommendations.

Counsel and provide assistance to employees and all levels of management in employee or management issues guided by the company-s policies and applicable employment laws. Perform research and conduct interviews of employees to ascertain the factual information concerning employee/management inquiries or complaints. Provide recommendations for corrective action policy revision and/or improving employee relations. Advise managers on policies and best practices in the communication of performance feedback to employees. Assist and/or advise management in the formal discipline or termination of employees. Ensure proper documentation of related notes, correspondence, and reports.

Maintain various HR databases, tracking, trending, and other systems as needed. Provide training, guidance and coaching to managers. May coordinate exit interviews. May oversee the administration of subcontracts. The HR Generalist duties and focus may evolve over time as needs within the organization change or emerge.

This position is primarily located at the WIPP site.

Exempt Grade Levels (30-34)

Minimum Requirements:These requirements must be met to be considered for this posting. Uploaded resumes and applications are the means of determination.

  • Bachelor-s degree with six (6) years of related experience,

  • Associate's degree with ten (10) years of related experience including four (4) years of administrative oversight, managing and/or supervising, or

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency with fourteen (14) years of related experience including four (4) years of administrative oversight, managing and/or supervising is required.

  • Related experience must include two (2) years as an HR Generalist or two (2) years performing interviews and investigations related to concerns, complaints, or rule violations.

  • Ability to write detailed and well-written reports and investigation summaries.

Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Higher education attainment than listed acceptable per internal level identifiers of accompanying years of experience.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Prior experience at a DOE facility in a related field is preferred.

  • Experience in other Human Resources disciplines is a plus.

  • Experience with employee discipline processes is desired.

  • HR certification as a Certified Investigator is highly desired.

  • IT skills and experience would be beneficial.

Minimum salary $78,719 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate-s relevant experience and education.
