Scientist III, R&D, Protein Biology

The position:

As a part of the Protein Analysis R&D team, a Scientist III will plan and perform laboratory experiments and assays associated with the development of novel protein analysis solutions and workflows using multiple techniques, including protein electrophoresis, western blotting, flow cytometry, and immunoassays. As a Scientist III, you will work at the bench in a laboratory setting. You will be involved in innovating and developing new product concepts. You may be required to stand for long periods of time and work safely with chemicals and other hazardous materials.

We are in need of a Scientist that can design and execute laboratory experiments, generate laboratory protocols, analyze experimental data, and presents results and write technical reports. The position involves working with a team of scientists and engineers to develop reagents, instruments, and software for protein characterization, detection and quantitation. The role involves identifying and resolving a variety of problems in experimental designs. We are looking for a candidate that will contribute well-considered ideas for new products and make improvements to procedures. We also need a team member that can communicate ideas and results optimally in a team setting. In addition, we need a scientist to:

  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of relevant fields and techniques

  • Apply expertise and knowledge of industry trends to identify new opportunities for novel product offerings that address customer needs in support of long-term business goals

  • Interact closely with other internal departments including Marketing, Business Development, Product Management, Technical Support and Manufacturing

Requirements / education:

  • Ph.D. degree in Biophysics, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or related field, post-graduate experience preferred. Strong candidates with Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of proven ability or a Master's degree and 3+ years of proven experience will also be considered.

  • Strong technical/scientific knowledge of protein analysis techniques and analytical instrumentation

  • Experience with Western blotting and other immunoassays applications (ELISA, Luminex, etc.)

  • Skill in DNA preparation, plasmid subcloning, and protein expression and purification

  • Ability to work independently to lead research in innovative immunoassay-based workflows and assays

  • Proven track record of working in a matrix work environment with multi-disciplinary teams

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interpret and summarize scientific results in a clear, concise, and accurate manner

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including aptitude to efficiently evaluate, prioritize, and adapt to changing project priorities.

  • Previous industrial experience, experience with product development, and experience with instrument development preferred
