SAS Full Time Field Training Specialist

SAS Retail Services provides national retail merchandising services to a host of fortune 500 CPG companies, distributors, and wholesalers. We are looking for a Field Training Specialist to join our team. This individual will be responsible for creating and executing training programs to improve performance.

In addition to training, the Field Training Specialist will conduct an in-depth needs analysis of internal clients’ needs and develop a strong relationship with the management group to influence the overall performance. By interacting with associates at every level of the company, they will create and implement training that will align with the long-term development of talent with the company by giving associates the skills and values that will motivate them to carry out work tasks.

    Responsibilities:

  • Act as a consultant to internal associates to determine training needs that will improve individual and overall organization performance.

  • Conduct in-house training to include employee orientation, supervisory skills, performance management, goal-setting and organizational policies and procedures.

  • Update training manuals on a regular basis to reflect changes in policies and procedures, ensure timely communication of said updates.

  • Research online training programs for purchase and/or develop programs for in-house learning.

  • Prepare, analyze and present training data and/or information to various management groups and make recommendations to improve organizations’ overall performance.

  • Maintain collaborative working relationships with others related to learning, problem-solving backup support and other related team functions.

  • Participate in safety training and actively comply with safety policies and practices.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

  • BA degree in Business, or equivalent work experience required.

  • Preferred: 3 years of administrative experience or 1 year of retail experience in a fast paced environment.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Enterprise-wide information systems such as ADP, Human Resources Information System (HIRS)

  • Adaptable and flexible to changing priorities, deadlines, demands and assignments while maintaining harmonious relationships in a fast paced environment.

  • Results-oriented multi-tasker who takes initiative in both group and individual projects with minimal oversight.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to partner and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, teammates and external consultants at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to travel.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

Executes on divisional training projects related to retail business training needs. Works closely with the retail leaders, clients and internal talent development Instructional Designers to drive divisional training projects from start to completion; including needs analysis, project management, facilitation and solution implementation and evaluation. Assess the training needs of retail teams through surveys, interviews with employees, focus groups, or consultation with managers, instructors, or customer representatives Present information, using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, and lectures. Evaluate training materials prepared by instructors, such as outlines, text, and handouts.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with retail business and client leaders and Talent Development to scope out divisional training projects.

  • Analyze retail team training needs, to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs in partnership with retail clients and Company

  • Develop project timelines and manage to them

  • Determines cost effective training approaches to meet the geographical challenges of providing learning programs in a variety of locations

  • Partner with Talent Development Instructional Designer to utilize encompass to provide support to all training and to better evaluate progress of learners

  • Contributes to design documents and storyboards for e-learning projects, for both systems and non-systems content.

  • Builds Level 2 and Level 3 assessments linked to the learning objectives, under the direction of Talent Development Managers.

  • Conduct evaluations and analyze metrics for programs; provide reports on project metrics

  • Provide regular project updates to retail business leaders and Talent Development

  • Ensure projects stay within timelines, budgets, and scope

  • Partner with other Talent Department leaders to ensure an integrated and coordinated team approach in providing learning solutions

  • Develop testing and evaluation procedures in partnership with Talent Development

Travel and/or Driving Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job

Education Level:(Required) Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Field of Study/Area of Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Training/Learning/Development

  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS)

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Excellent written communication and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to gather data, to compile information, and prepare reports

  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle a fast-paced work environment

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines

  • Strong prioritization skills

  • Ability to make oral presentations

  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-browsers

Field / Administrative Requirements

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office, field, retail store, or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: engage in considerable physical activity, ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds, stand on feet for long periods of time, use products or cook food as appropriate for the demonstration, and may be required to work in extremely cold conditions (i.e. refrigerated and freezer sections). Also required to travel and drive. The use of proper safety practices when handling the products and/or cooking is essential.
