U.S. Army War College Library Technician in Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania

Summary About the Position: Carlisle Barracks is an installation at the center of the Army and Department of Defense Senior Leadership educational programs. This historic post supports missions such as the U.S. Army War College, (including the Center for Strategic Leadership, Strategic Studies Institute and USAWC Press, U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center), and Department of Health Agency, Peacekeeping and Stability Operations Institute, and the Installation Management Command. Responsibilities Collaborate with others to develop or improve products, services and programs. Schedule patrons utilizing automated systems. Support public relations through informal contact with other professionals and the general public. Perform circulation functions such as checking out library materials, registering new patrons etc. for an organization. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience for GS-06: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal Service which includes: (1) checking library materials in and out; (2) registering and deleting library patron records in automation system; and (3) assisting customers with finding library materials, references and program information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Specialized Experience for GS-07: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal Service which includes: (1) performing circulation functions, (2) cataloging of library materials; (3) creating informational and educational materials for library programs; and (4) assisting customers with utilizing automation systems to search and retrieve library materials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06) Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Manages and Organizes Information Oral Communication Technical Competence Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
