Sidus Space CMM Programmer/Quality Inspector in Cape Canaveral, Florida

This position is for the 2nd shift generally working 3:00pm - 11:30pm.

Required Education and Experience

  • Five (5+) years experience in programming and operating CMMs with PC-DIMIS software, or other relevant industry experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent. Experience in lieu of education may be considered.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods, preferred. Knowledge on Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GDandT).
  • Use desktop computer to generate spreadsheets, presentations, databases and documents.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Microsoft 365 including Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Working knowledge of the needs in an AS9100 environment and First Article Inspection (AS9102).
  • Read, interpret and apply various technical data such as prints, specifications and utilize specialized inspection and hand tools.
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment,
  • Solution oriented while committed to consistency and process.
  • Work under minimal direction while keeping within the limitations of designated authorities, exercising regular use of good judgment.
  • Written and verbal communication skillspresent information, concepts and proposals with a wide range of audiences at all levels, technical or non-technical individuals both internal and external to the company.

Physical Requirements

  • Stationary Work - occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force to transport objects, remaining mostly stationary, sometimes requiring moving about the work center on concrete surfaces.
  • Computer Work - daily use of laptop, computer monitor screen, keyboard, and mouse, sometimes utilizing a headset with microphone and speakers.

  • This position requires access to onsite locations managing Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information, which is Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN) data. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications and Customer requirements utilizing best method of inspection (CMM and/or manual inspection methods).
  • Submits of out of tolerance conditions to Customer and/or in-house Engineering support.
  • Program CMMs utilizing Customer drawing and model requirements.
  • Mechanical inspection of products to verify conformance to drawing and specification requirements.
  • Review work orders or other instructions to determine product specifications or materials requirements.
  • Review drawings or other instructions to determine operational methods or sequences.
  • Assist with Manufacturing to determine Inspection frequency to assure first time quality.
  • Review data and Customer/Industry workmanship standards to determine requirements for inspection and compliance.
  • Correlat and record inspection data to document in required format.
  • Identify items with detail acceptance-rejection status.
  • Notify supervisors or other personnel of production problems.
  • Work closely with CNC machinists to complete inspections and support the team to meet Customer deadlines.
  • Fill out inspection reports describing results and notify appropriate contact of equipment repair of maintenance needs.
  • Compare physical characteristics of materials or products to specifications or standards.
  • Monitor equipment operation to ensure proper functioning and products are not flawed.
  • Clean production equipment.
  • Adhere to all Quality Management Systems standards and procedures

The 2nd Shift CMM Programmer/Quality Inspector is responsible for the programming and operation of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) using PC-DMIS software as well as inspection of complex tight tolerance Aerospace manufactured parts.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
