Req# 28527 Aultman Health Foundation, CANTON, OH AULTMAN HOSPITAL Aultman Health Foundation Full Time, Day Shift, 0800-1630 GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Provides professional medical care under supervision for clinic patients. The purpose of this position is to handle time-consuming clerical responsibilities for the physicians within the practice. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Reports directly to Director. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Duties performed in this position include but are not limited to the following: Primary duties to assist physicians with documentation in the EHR in a non-intrusive manner to ensure timely dictation and billing. Gather and chart information pertaining to the patient health history, physical exam, diagnostic findings, lab and test results, consultations with other providers as part of care coordination, and patient instruction/education with attention to detail. Directly observes patient encounters and documents the events and decision-making that result in accurate and appropriate medical charting. Assists in the processing of electronic physician orders for radiology, lab tests, and medications in the EHR. Compliant with all policies related to scribing. Able to keyboard proficiently. Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested. Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. Performs department specific work as required. Complies with all statutory regulatory policies and procedures. KNOW HOW: Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in giving patient care. Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments and medications as directed. Skill in taking vital signs. Skill in maintaining records and recording test results. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Ability to maintain quality control standard. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires sitting, standing, and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 100 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. Requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Some exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must have knowledge of medical practice and in giving patient care. Must be knowledgeable about examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatment room procedures. The position requires a person who is tactful, understanding, and sympathetic in his/her relationship with the patient. He/she must have the ability to recognize serious problems when triaging calls and to know how to get the patient serviced in a timely fashion using the resources available at the Foundation. He/she must have working knowledge of record keeping requirements of the Foundation, both medical and administrative. Problem-Solving: Judgment is required when dealing with different the personalities of both patients and the medical staff.
