Statement of Position

The Producer Contracting & Commissions Specialist is an individual contributor reporting directly to the Director Compliance, Licensing & Contracts.

The Producer Contracting & Commissions Specialist is responsible for ensuring all producers and business entities representing Boston Mutual are properly contracted with the Company and appointed with various state insurance departments. They will also ensure commissions are set up and paid correctly.

The Producer Contracting & Commissions Specialist is expected to:

Contracting

  • Process new producer contracts applications (Individual Solutions and Workplace Solutions), which includes organizing, coordinating, compiling data, conducting due diligence/background investigations, appointment with the state insurance departments and maintaining the contract.

  • Process contract reinstatements, changes, terminations, special arrangements and special requests.

  • Responsible for monitoring/updating producer appointment statuses on internal databases.

  • Support the Distribution/Sales area with responding to inquiries

  • Respond to written and verbal inquiries from internal and external sources

  • Generate reports, statistics and data analysis as needed

Commissions

  • Set up commission schedules for new producers

  • Review case parameters and apply existing or create new scales for commission distribution

  • Test new scales once in production

  • Prepare and review records for payment on each commission run

  • Collect and resolve debit balances by reviewing blocks of business, sending demand letters, arrangement of payment plans and tracking payments

  • Research, calculate, document and process commission adjustments and commission advances for Individual Solutions and Workplace Solutions

  • Respond to written and verbal inquiries from both internal and external sources

  • Support the Distribution/Sales area as a commission subject matter expert and call queue assistance

  • Calculate all advances as appropriate and maintain approved advance producer list

  • Ad-hoc reporting on commission related data as requested by management

Qualifications & Knowledge Requirements

Education: High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum 3 years of administrative experience required. Insurance industry experience preferred.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Strong business knowledge.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively build and extend relationships.

  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize a high volume of multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to context, substance and detail while meeting goals and strict deadlines.

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Working knowledge of Boston Mutual or related industry products and administrative processes preferred.

  • Exceptional computer skills using MS Office; proficiency in Microsoft Access required.

  • Experience using multiple system applications, managing electronic and physical documents, ensuring they are properly recorded in systems and stored appropriately.
