The Opportunity:

The SATCOM Engineering Manager provides technical leadership and direction in the application engineering practices and processes to deliver SATCOM capabilities to customers. This responsibility includes managing resources to deliver quality outcomes within assigned budgets, schedule and scope.

The SATCOM Engineering Manager will directly and in-directly manage discipline grouped teams (including software, systems engineering and IT infrastructure) to deliver capability outcomes to customers to achieve business outcomes. Direct customer liaison will also be required.

The SATCOM Engineering Manager will directly report to the Chief Technology Officer on technical capability delivery (including performance metrics) and be responsive to Project Managers for technical solution delivery to customers.

Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of the role will include, but is not limited to:

  • Providing leadership and technical management direction to the SATCOM technical teams and more broadly across the organisation.

  • Responsible for the delivery of technical solutions and services in accordance with contracted Statements of Work.

  • Management direction for the application of system engineering practices and processes and to deliver complex IT capabilities to customers and other business outcomes.

  • Delivery of quality outcomes to customers to schedule, within budget and to agreed scope.

  • Development and implementation of engineering management processes and procedures.

  • Management of product configuration baselines in accordance with configuration management standards and processes.

  • Technical assurance of product solutions and services.

  • Management of development and delivery of Integrated Logistics Support plans, products and services.

  • Engineering lead for engineering design reviews and project management reviews.

  • Defining and assessing technical competencies and assigning technical authority to personnel.

  • Proving technical input into contractual requirements and scope of work.

  • Management of development and delivery of engineering and other assigned technical contract deliverables.

  • Oversight of professional development of engineering and technical personnel.

    As the ideal candidate you will bring:

Essential:

  • Minimum 15 years experience ​

  • P roven leadership and management of large multi-disciplined technical project teams

  • Proven experience in using Systems Engineering and Agile approaches to deliver complex Information Technology capabilities​

  • Software and/or Information Technology practical knowledge and experience ​

  • Undergraduate four-year degree in a relevant engineering discipline ​

  • Holds an Australian government NV1 security clearance​

  • Eligible to access ITAR controlled technology

Desirable:

  • Chartered Professional Engineering status or eligibility​

  • Registered professional engineer in an Australian jurisdiction ​

  • Satellite Communication knowledge and experience​

  • Experience with delivering programs with an ASDEFCON framework
