Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated process technician to join our dynamic team in a food packaging materials development laboratory. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design and testing of new materials, new material processing methods and the implementation of innovative packaging solutions that meet the evolving needs of the food industry.

Responsibilities

Support material, product, and technology development initiatives.

• Set-up and operate lab and pilot-scale equipment for:

• Plastics extrusion,

• Plastics thermoforming,

• Molded fiber forming,

• Lamination & coatings.

• Trouble shoot equipment problems and make minor repairs.

• Prepare raw materials for processing.

• Perform quality control testing:

• Operate laboratory test equipment,

• Complete basic manipulation, calculation, and reporting of test data.

• Perform material handling including:

• Licensed fork truck operation,

• Pallet jack operation,

• Raw material loading and inventory management.

• Support commercial equipment start-up.

• Support manufacturing staff to develop optimal processes.

• Maintain assigned equipment and participate in annual machine inspections.

• Travel to manufacturing sites and vendor locations as needed (less than 20% travel required).

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• High School graduate or equivalent required. An AAS or trade school diploma in manufacturing, mechanical or electrical technology is preferred.

• At least 1 year experience in a technology support role, or 3 years manufacturing experience directly supporting package manufacturing, material converting or precision part manufacturing.

• Strong equipment troubleshooting skills.

• Basic office computer application skills (Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel).

• Reliable, self-motivated, proactive, and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

The compensation range is specific to New York and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Pactiv Evergreen, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is$51,700 - $86,100.
