Position Overview

Are you someone who loves helping students find their path to success? Do you enjoy providing guidance and support to individuals who are transitioning from school to the working world or further education? If so, we have the perfect job for you!

As a Job Exploration Specialist, you will be responsible for providing general guidance to students as they prepare for their next adventure. But don't worry, this isn't your typical boring job. You'll have the opportunity to make a real impact by helping students gain information about careers, identifying their personal interests, and exploring different academic and occupational training options. Not only will you get to share your expertise, but you'll also have the chance to provide fun and engaging assessment services such as completing a Career Exploration Assessment, Community Based Work Assessment, or Community Based Situational Assessment. Who says work can't be both informative and entertaining?

Work Location: Ontario County Schedule: Part Time, M-F 12-4pm with the flexibility to meet program needs.

Responsibilities

  • Is the point of contact, coordinating assessment efforts with participants, employer locations, referral agents (i.e. CCO, ACCES VR, BOCES and school districts) and significant others (i.e. families, classroom teachers, community support services such as DSS, Probation, or other agency personnel).

  • Serves as agency representative regarding assigned assessments.

  • Advise students on course offerings, career options, formal education and/or training requirements associated with a particular career field. May include exploration and guidance on colleges, applications and admissions processes, and financial aid resources.

    Requirements

  • Masters in vocational rehab or related areas such as personnel, counseling, and guidance and one year of experience in vocational rehabilitation or other suitable field OR a Bachelor's degree and three-year experience with two of those years providing vocational assessment services.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills essential, previous experience in assessment and/or training of others in a community setting preferred.
