Description We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a Tax Preparer in Campbell, California. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting financial information, preparing tax returns, and advising clients on tax planning. You will also have the opportunity to work with software such as Lacerte and Microsoft Excel, and will be expected to maintain strict confidentiality in all matters.

Responsibilities:

• Collect all necessary financial information and documentation from clients, such as income statements, expenses, and other relevant financial records

• Examine financial statements, receipts, and other documents to ensure accuracy and completeness

• Use mathematical and accounting skills to compute taxes owed or refunds due, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations

• Complete and file tax returns for clients, ensuring all applicable deductions, credits, and exemptions are claimed

• Provide advice to clients on tax planning, potential deductions, and strategies to minimize tax liabilities

• Stay updated on changes in tax regulations and legislation to ensure accurate and compliant tax preparation

• Correspond with the IRS or other tax authorities on behalf of clients, respond to notices, and handle audits if necessary

• Keep detailed records of all transactions, tax filings, and communications with clients and tax authorities

• Protect the confidentiality of client information and adhere to ethical standards and privacy laws

• Use Accounting Software Systems, Lacerte Tax Software, and Microsoft Excel for various tasks including expense reporting and financial records management. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is required

• Experience with Lacerte Tax Software is essential

• Must be skilled in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables

• Strong Customer Service skills are necessary

• Experience in Expense Reporting is needed

• Must have knowledge of maintaining and analyzing financial records

• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion is required

• Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to spot numerical errors

• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Proactive approach towards problem-solving and the ability to work independently

• A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred

• Relevant certification, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), is advantageous

• Must adhere to all company policies and regulations regarding tax preparation

• Must remain up-to-date on changes and developments in the tax law

• Ability to work extended hours, particularly during tax season.
