Akima Intermediate Project Manager (LMD) in Camp Springs, Maryland

The Intermediate Project Manager to work with our team supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Office of Administration within Logisitcs Management Divisions. The Intermediate Project Manager reports to the RiverTech On-Site Supervisor and provides on-site analytical and project management support services for Logistic Management Division and initiatives to ensure that projects fulfill requirements and specifications and are completed within defined schedules and cost parameters.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, describe, document, and diagram business models, capabilities, and processes associated with the implementation of coordinated response to departmental operational plans and tasks.

  • Develop collaboration site(s) in SharePoint to track and report statuses on tasks and training development.

  • Provide project scheduling support when assisting other departments with internal projects.

  • Develop standard and ad hoc project management reports and documents with agency software to include, but are not limited to, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft PowerPoint.

  • Coordinate task activities with contract staff in various branches to identify duplicative process/tasks for the division, recommend feasibility of consolidating, review for leaning, and submit recommendation to LMD Special Assistant.

  • Review requirement documents for accuracy and completeness.

  • Business process modeling & reengineering support.

  • Facilitate Project Teams, organizational assessments, and cost/benefit analyses.

  • Prepare and present white papers and progress reports; assist management with analysis of costs, schedules and performance of the work.

  • Assist and/or develop project budgetary projection development process.

  • Support project management phases to include planning, execution and result monitoring.

  • Coordinate project activity and facilitate staff and IPT meetings.

  • Assist the Government in recommending new or changes to existing procedures, and outreach materials and training.

Qualifications

  • United States (U.S.) citizenship is required for this U.S. government program.Ability to obtain/maintain Secret clearance eligibility and favorable pre-employment USCIS Entry on Duty (EOD) and Suitability Determinations.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, related field or professional certification.

  • Minimum three (3) years of work experience relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the position; relevant work experience may be considered as a substitute for degree requirements.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to perform and complete task.

  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project, as well as SharePoint or other collaboration software.

  • Demonstrated ability to produce detailed and independent written correspondence in order to communicate operational requirements.Experience with electronic security systems is preferred but not required.

  • Previous project management experience and data analysis.

  • Excellent customer service, oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to think logically and work effectively within group settings or independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to receive general guidance and instructions from a supervisor or via established standard operating procedures, and act upon them with minimal supervision.

  • Successful completion of pre-employment background investigation with results allowing for continued consideration for employment.
