Safe Schools Coordinator

The Center for Schools and Communities (CSC) a statewide education, training and technical assistance organization, is seeking qualified candidate for a full-time position as a Safe Schools Coordinator.  The anticipated start date is May 16, 2024.


Position has primary responsibility for the development and implementation of statewide projects related to emergency response and crisis management, school safety, school climate, bullying prevention, social/emotional learning, school-based violence prevention, and the coordination of child-serving systems such as children and youth, mental health, juvenile justice, and education.  The coordinator will be responsible for technical assistance, site visits, coordination of training and resource development and information gathering to assist schools and other organizations in the provision of quality services to children and families.  The Safe Schools Coordinator will be responsible for creating and leading cross program collaborations among all projects under the direction of the Center for Safe Schools Director.

Salary:  $52,000 -- 60,000 dependent on qualifications.  This is an exempt position working a 260 day per year, 12-month work schedule.

This full-time position follows a regular Monday through Friday (37.5 hours per week) work schedule with the opportunity to allow a hybrid work schedule consisting of three (3) days in-office work at the Center for Schools and Communities office located in Camp Hill, PA location and two (2) days telework from home and/or approved off-site locations.  In addition, face-to-face interaction with clients, meetings and trainings may be required on days deemed as teleworking days.  Certain requirements, based upon CSIU telework policy and administrative regulations, must be met.  The CSIU has the right to cancel or suspend the employee teleworking privileges at any time, for any or no reason due to the requirement of the CSIU and client needs.


Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Minimum requirements are a Bachelor's degree in one of the social sciences or education and at least five (5) years' experience in a closely related field, especially violence prevention or an Associate's Degree and eight (8) years of related experience.
  • Excellent research skills, utilizing the internet as well as print and other sources.
  • Excellent verbal skills, including public speaking experience
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in effective safe school practices.
  • Excellent critical and analytical thinking skills.
  • General understanding of program evaluation methodologies.
  • Understanding of adult theories of learning and organizational training, experience in developing training.
  • Excellent writing skills, including experience in writing for professional publications including resource and research articles, grants, web newsletters and/or correspondence.
  • Public speaking experience with excellent public speaking and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple activities.
  • Ability to work independently and willingness to be a team player.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and clients both internal and external.
  • Experience in program planning and development.
  • Experience with work involving children, adolescents and families.
  • Experience in using the Microsoft Office suite including Word and Excel programs.
  • Understand and meet all PA Act 44 of 2018, School Safety and Security requirements, PA Act 18 amendments of 2019, and other relevant federal or state legislation/regulation or guidance.
